New stuff that’s too good to miss…

Yes, I know I’m supposed to be on vacation. 🏖 But I’ve been seeing some cool new pre-fall styles currently on sale, and didn’t want you to miss out.

Early fall styles have begun to land, and I’ve seen quite a few that have piqued my interest. If there’s anything on your fall wardrobe wish list, I’d suggest to start keeping your eyes open now, even if you won’t be able to wear it for a few weeks yet. This pre-fall season is when I often find some of the best versatile basics.

Women’s pre-fall styles on sale

J.Crew currently has up to 50% off what they’re calling “wear now styles.” There are a lot of summer weight pieces included, but also some options that will take you well into fall. Above, that merino wool cardigan is a great style and weight for transitional season and travel wear. It can be worn alone, as a lightweight top layer, or under a jacket or blazer.

I just received mine yesterday and it’s a keeper! Runs true-to-size for a slim-not-snug fit. If you want a slouchier, more oversized fit I’d size up. And for those of us Springs and Autumns, it’s so nice (and rare!) to find a leopard print that isn’t black-heavy! There’s also a zebra print option. Both available in sizes XX-Small to 3X.

I’ve been wearing chinos or utility pants almost non-stop for the last few weeks, and anticipate I’ll continue well into fall. I have that ivory twill pair above on order. They’re available in four colors, sizes 23-37 and in Petite and Tall lengths!

This cotton collared “beach sweater” is also quite good, and also runs true-to-size.

Talbot’s also has a promotion currently running that includes new pre-fall styles, 25% off entire purchase.

And Lo & Sons is having an end-of-summer sale with up to 50% off. (Including several colors of my favorite Pearl bag!)

How’s your August going so far?

  1. Thanks for interrupting your vacances! These are late fall/winter clothes for Tampa, Florida, so I often shop off season. The gold tones of the leopard print are most welcome, and rare, as you note. Thanks again.

  2. Thanks for the update. The leopard print if intriguing and I see it also come in “mossy grove” which is a good color for me (autumn). What size did you order?

    1. I ordered the Small and it’s a good fit. Enough room across the bust without being oversized everywhere else.

  3. I love leopard print, but as a Summer, most leopard prints even with black still skew too warm for me. I’m always looking for grey/black, or even blue/black, colourways.

  4. Just thought you would like to know – the ads today took over your printed post ( usually they are interspersed between sections of text and can be skipped over). Ads covering your text! Very annoying when it gets so hard to read a post. Not sure if there is anything you can change on your end, but yours is the only blog today with that problem.

  5. Thank you for coming out of vacation! Did you get the merino sweater in small? I’m short waisted but I’m worried that it might be too fitted.

  6. I finally ordered The Pearl from Lo & Sons!!! I’m a true winter and ordered the black with silver hardware. Thanks and enjoy your time off!

  7. Thank you for taking time out of your vacation to do his post. The blue grouping really caught my eye. It seemed soft and would brighten my day no matter the season. Thank you for all your hard work. Enjoy your vacation.

  8. I got the Pearl back in 2019 when you first posted it (I think it was the first time) and boy, did I get a good deal back then! I just looked back at my email receipt from them and it was $99! I got it in the Peacock blue, with the intention of taking it on my April 2020 UK vacation. Well, we all know what happened in April 2020…. so I took it on my April 2022 UK vacation instead. Great purse!

    1. Nice! In 2017 I bought the Black Nappa / Gold / Lavender bag for $148.80 which was a sale price. It and my Longchamp Neo le Pliage in poppy red are my travel favorites.

  9. For the first time I can not go to products from your links………….will check my settings but FYI. Loved everything in the posts.

  10. Saw your item on instagram about the lo and sons pearl bag. Decided to buy one. Can you believe they don’t ship to Canada? And they didn’t tell me till I’d filled in all the details!,

  11. So Susan. How are you dealing with the trend away from skinny jeans to wider leg jeans. One influencer I follow is purging all but 2 pair of her skinnies. ( saving 2 for wear with high boots). I for one can’t afford to do away with 10 or so pair of skinnies and replace them with straight or wider legs. What say you??? Just curious and interested in seeing your followers comments as well.

    1. Hi Cher, I haven’t been wearing super skinny jeans for several seasons now. Mostly I’ve been wearing slim straight leg and boyfriend styles. I’ve added a couple pairs with a more relaxed fit and wider leg, but am keeping the straight and boyfriend styles in rotation.

  12. Cher and Susan: I still have some AG Prima jeans which are ‘cigarette’ style —so semi skinny. I’ve replaced several pair of jeans with boyfriend and straight because I’m older and they’re more comfortable.

    1. Yes I have several straight and boot cut in rotation that I like a lot. It just hurts to think of purging so many skinnies!!!!
