It’s hard to go wrong with stripes and sneakers…
A sporty-casual outfit with stripes, jeans, and (elevated) sneakers.
Lately, I’ve been leaning into my own version of Sporty Chic. My friend Lisa might call this look “Polished Tomboy.” Either way, it feels right for the times. Relaxed, (a little) refined, and very comfortable.

A striped sweater or top is such a timeless style, and a great way to add visual interest to a simple outfit. Stripes also mix nicely with other patterns. And Vince makes such nice sweaters! This one’s a very lightweight wool/cashmere blend. I’m wearing the XS.
This is one of my favorite jeans styles, the AG Prima Crop. This style has a mid rise and cigarette (slim) leg, and runs a little smaller than my other Prima’s. I’m wearing a 28.
Slip-on sneakers have been my go-to shoes these past few months. I first purchased a pair of these Vince platform sneakers in black about three years ago. (When I first put them on, I told le Monsieur they felt like “a thousand angels caressing my feet.” 🥰 ) So I was thrilled to find them in this warm tan color! They’re just as delightful to wear as my first pair.
In addition to being comfortable, they’re good-looking and easy to style. They’re more refined than a classic sneaker, but still sporty. The platform adds a modern edge and nice visual volume (great to help balance longer or fuller clothing styles). This style tends to run about 1/2 size large. I’m wearing a 7.

Susan, this is a bright, lovely outfit. I remember a couple of years ago you had a holiday photo in front of lit candles on your mantelpiece. You were wearing a beautiful blue silky top, black slacks and pearls, holding a glass of champagne. It was utterly timeless. Thank you for your uplifting messages in this difficult year. You inspire me.

Cute outfit. For me, the scarf makes it sing. I have a similar pair of shoes (Vans) which I wear every day now. Slipping shoes on instead of lacing them up is a small luxury.

Living where you are and everything happening around you it would be more than forgivable if you had gone down the Debbie Downer path! You keep it informative and motivating which your readers seem to really appreciate. In Canada we have been pretty lucky but not immune, my province and the one adjacent(Ontario, Québec) are going into lockdown Boxing Day to control the spread and to keep those living in hotspots at home. Everybody is waiting for their turn to have the vaccine but we need to be alive to benefit!

It is all about the bandana. I love that touch. I have a pair of red slip ons that I need to get innersoles for. They are just a tad loose but inserting innersoles tightens them up just enough. I’m prob a 7 & 3/4 size and they don’t make it. LOL I think this look would be cute with jeans done in red stripe sweater. Red bandana, red shoes. That’s what I love about the way you style outfits. That’s a great outfit Susan and you look good as usual. For California residents no doubt ideal!
Living in a cold climate (eastern Canada), jeans are a summer thing for me, especially jeans worn with bare ankles.
Also, I find jeans are a problem if you wish to wear them with varying styles of footwear or heel heights. The length has to be adjusted, so in fact you have to own several pairs of jeans, one to wear with flat shoes, another for booties, another for high or medium heels, not to mention sneakers and sandals. I definitely find that cropped with bare ankles and sandals is the most flattering style but unfortunately not for winter in Canada.
Leggings (or tight jeans) tucked into long boots is a go-to style for many Canadian women.
Maybe in a future post, you could suggest some cold-weather outfits, you have really good taste,

Hi Susan! Quick question on the sneaker sizing. You stated you purchased a size 7 and that the shoes run about 1/2 size large. Are you usually a 7 1/2? Super cute outfit and just the way I prefer to dress most days (when I’m out of lounging clothing!). Thank you for putting together so many beautiful outfits throughout the year in order to share them with us. I know this takes time and a lot of work and you are much appreciated! I’m seeing more and more of these among my favorite bloggers and YouTube channels, and it does make me a bit uncomfortable. I understand that you want this to be a profitable venture.
