I love Paris in the springtime…
After two mostly rainy days in Épernay, we returned to find a gloriously sunny Paris. It was even warm enough that I was finally able to shed my down coat during the daytime.
A sunny spring day in Paris
My long jacket is several years old. The lightweight striped sweater is from Comptoir des Cotonniers (more about this French brand soon). Here’s a similar one in Misses / Plus.
I wanted to do a bit of retail reconnaissance for you (look for a post soon) so we started out in the Marais, where most of the shops are open on Sundays. In other parts of Paris, it’s hit and miss.
Paris is in full “Paques” (Easter) mode. It was Palm Sunday so the churches were lively.

The parks were packed too! Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine. Above, Place des Vosges in the Marais. The light through the new green leaves is just magical!
The Marais was so crowded that after a couple of hours we’d had enough and headed over to my favorite area, St. Germain. It was also busy, but not quite as cheek-to-jowl. We’re still masking in stores and in crowded spaces.
After dinner at one of our favorites, le Comptoir, we walked back along the Seine to our apartment …
Stopping for a few minutes to enjoy our favorite light show…
All in all, just about a perfect Paris day.

Lovely – Paris and you! Perhaps you are staying in the 7th? The walk along the Seine after dinner back to the apartment we’ve rented (always near the Eiffel Tower) is one of my favorite things to do when I’m there.
Will you take any street fashion photos? I’d love to see what women ‘of a certain age’ are wearing. I’m thinking now about what to take for summer – going to review what you wore during that Paris trip you took when it was super hot, as I begin in Paris in May and end in Provence in late July.
I just realized that these posts mean you’re working while on vacation; the life of a travel/fashion blogger, I suppose. Thank you for taking time out of your trip to write to us (or, should I say, write for us).

One year we stayed at their hotel next door to get a dinner reservation, it had become a place to eat.

More than forty years ago I was an au pair for a family who lived in the Marais, it has changed so much! Back then it was beautiful but not a fashionable area, still housing lots of non couture ateliers and lots of students lived there which was great for me. On a Sunday it was very, very quiet as everything was shut except the cafes. When I’m in Paris I always have a nostalgic wander down rue Vieille du Temple which will forever be ‘my street’ but these days I stay up by Rue Oberkampf which has more of the feel that the Marais has lost.
