Best Casual Basics for Spring: Top Sale Picks

I love it when sales hit at the beginning of a season! This is a great time to find casual wardrobe basics that are wearable now and into summer, so keep reading if you’re looking to update or refresh your wardrobe. I’m seeing a lot of good casual wardrobe basics and travel-friendly styles for spring included in the markdowns. Here are some of my top picks…

Madewell Insiders Event – 25% off sitewide

Madewell has 25% off sitewide during the Insiders Event. (“Insiders” is the Madewell loyalty program. It’s free to sign up and you can earn points/credits on purchases, as well as being eligible for special savings events.) Some of my picks above:

  • A dark to medium wash jean is a versatile style that can dress up or down. These have a slightly wider leg; if you prefer a slimmer cut this straight leg style is good.
  • Lace insets add visual interest (and some ventilation) to a pretty white blouse. You can also wear this open over a tee or tank.
  • A classic cardigan is a great travel companion for transitional seasons (or extreme air-conditioning). I love this green for you Winters*; it’s also available in grey, red, and dark brown.
  • CBK-inspired sunglasses
  • I LOVE these cotton bandanas and have collected a few of them over the years. Wear around the neck, around the wrist, as a head scarf or hatband. Or just tie on the handle of your bag.
  • That silver seashell ring adds a bit of Coastal Chic to any outfit.
  • A woven tote adds some textural interest. I love the navy, and there’s also brown and a pretty dark green. (This smaller shoulder bag is good too.)
  • These Mary-Janes get great reviews, and are available in several colors and finishes. (The butter yellow ones are currently in my cart 😉)

I also really like this open-stitch cardigan, and sporty-chic zip-front cardigan, this striped poplin “easy” shirt, and of course, the darted barrel leg jeans (see how I wore mine here).

  1. Great color combo and style. I would wear this type of outfit happily. The sweater is a little too short for me, but the green color is nice, and the scarf might find its way into my wardrobe soon! I have a few of these already thanks to your previous suggestions and love them!

  2. Thanks for compiling this list of sales resources! I can vouch for the Lo & Sons Nouvelle bag. I have it in three colors–in fact, I’m in Miami now and brought the Nouvelle in Navy as my only bag. It’s so flexible, works with casual and more formal looks, and can hold a surprising amount of stuff.

  3. Thanks for these!
I love the new EF linen jacket especially for the shorter length. My problem there is that the only colour I can see a “winter” wearing is the black. Am I correct in your opinion?

  4. I purchased the green sweater and bandana. As. Winter I find greens tricky. I haven’t received it yet but looking forward to adding something bright to my spring wardrobe-I normally wear “winter” neutrals. I also purchased it in two sizes as the site said it ran small. Fingers crossed
