Elevate Your Spring Wardrobe with a 25% Off Sale
With warmer days just ahead, it’s a good time to take stock of your spring wardrobe. If yours could use a refresh (or just a replacement here or there) I’ve rounded up some elevated spring wardrobe basics from Talbot’s, currently 25% off!
First though, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for all of the birthday wishes and lovely comments! You all absolutely made my day!! 🥰
A versatile polo cardigan
I spied this collared cotton cardigan a few days ago in Talbot’s new arrivals, and ordered it immediately. It arrived yesterday, and I liked it so much I had to style and share it right away! (Due yesterday’s rainy weather, there wasn’t much natural light so images are a little grainy.)

My sizes: Cardigan – Petite Small, Tee – Small, Jeans – Petite 28
The textured cardigan is offered in several colors* in Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes. It’s 100% cotton and runs true-to-size. (If you want to wear it over a thicker top, or prefer a more relaxed fit, I’d suggest sizing up.) I threw it on over the jeans and tee I was already wearing, and really liked the combo! The jeans are from Madewell, and are a more subtle version of a barrel leg. They’re offered in Standard, Petite, Tall and Plus sizes. Tee is this one from Everlane.
*Wearing our best colors can help us to look more vibrant, energized, healthy, as well as helping build style confidence and create cohesive wardrobes. As a trained color analyst, I often recommend colors by color season. The cardigan above is available in several colors; here are my recommendations by seasonal color palette:
Black – Winters
Blue Wave – Summers and some Winters
Cafe – Autumns and Springs
Indigo Blue – Winters
Ivory – Autumns & Springs
Red Pepper – I haven’t seen this one in person, but on my monitor it looks like a pretty neutral red, which means it can work for all seasons.
Soft Pink – Summers
The cardigan is light and fitted enough to wear buttoned as a top or a mid-layer underneath a jacket or coat. On the right, a closeup so you can see the texture and those nice buttons.
More from Talbot’s
I’ve included pieces here that are simple and easy to wear, but that have some details that make them more interesting. Prices listed before discount. All included in the 25% off promotion.
Multi-Stripe Cotton Sweater – $99.50
I like the mix of blue stripes here, which make it a bit more fun without losing the classic appeal. In Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.
Poplin Shirt Dress – $169
Have a warm weather getaway planned? Winters, this one’s a gorgeous color for you! In Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.
Space-Dye Boatneck Top – $89.50
An easy-to-style alternative to a plain tee. In Misses & Petite sizes. Winters, Summers, and most Springs could all wear this navy.
Gola Tennis Sneakers – $75
I love the fun metallic detail on these classic sneakers!
Molten Cuff Bracelet – $49.50
I really like the look of this cuff bracelet, which won’t overpower lighter spring and summer clothing. The gold hardware and green stones should work well for both Autumns and Springs.
“Savvy” Stripe Shirt – $89.50
Directional stripes add interest to this easy cotton popover. In Misses and Petite sizes.
This pink should work for Springs and Summers.
This is an excellent time to shop for items to update your spring and warm weather wardrobe. You’ll find lots of good basics now in lighter fabrics, with some coverage. I find that summer collections tend to be more “beachy” and don’t have as much season-spanning power.
Are you shopping/searching for any spring or warm weather basics? If so, let me know what you’re looking for and I’ll keep my eyes open.

Aren’t those Madewell jeans the best? I have them in another wash. I love them so much that I have to stop myself from buying them in all the others!
That classy ivory cardigan is on sale for 59.50 today! And i love the way you styled it. Thanks for the inspiration!
Which colors in the Frank and Eileen Patrick Heritage Jersey top would be best for springs?
Hi Barb, “Passion Fruit” looks like a good one! Also Butterscotch, and possibly Petal.
Susan, A very happy belated birthday! Your post is the first one I open and you never fail to inspire! You introduced me to barrel jeans, which to me are a gift from the Fashion Gods!
I just wanted to say thanks for reccomending The Are Murders. I was sad there weren’t more episodes! Hopefully, they’ll have another season.
I always enjoy your posts and appreciate your quirky style!
I am going on a cruise to Mexico in a few weeks and could use some style advice. I’m guessing there are quite a few of us who want to cruise in style and yet not look like everyone else! I’m sure you have lots of ideas!
(BTW: I’m a true spring)
Thank you!
Question: yesterday I saw some Eileen Fisher pieces in the most gorgeous color. Did some research and it’s called Dragonfly. Would you recommend this color for a Spring?
Yes, it looks close to “Turquoise” in the Spring palette. https://bit.ly/41Hh2Js Probably best on Paintbox and Blue Springs.
Happy belated birthday! Isn’t it a joy to feel comfortable in our skin?
