When I first tried on this red jacket, I got a very Southwest/Georgia O’Keeffe* kind of vibe, so I styled it here with that in mind. I’ve also been looking forward to pairing it with this pink scarf, which I tied in a sort of kerchief-style. Yes, it’s a bit bulkier than I’d like, but I’m keeping my eye out for a similarly colored scarf in a lighter fabric to try this with.

The bracelet was gifted from Halsbrook. (First shown here.) They have more Elizabeth Cole pieces here. I really like the gold and turquoise mix which is a more unusual combo.
Maybe I’m getting bolder with age, but I LOVE this red! I feel very energized wearing it.
I should also mention that the jacket comes with a large fabric-covered pin (same color) which allows it to be fastened closed, a big plus for me when the weather gets colder.

I love that coat, and I love that you paired the pink scarf with it.
I would wrap the scarf around the neck. Big, bulky necks seem to be the look around here. As if everybody got whiplash. Whatever–it’s the silhouette of the moment.
I am hunting for a short red trench coat. Something I can wear in spring and fall, but not as long and formal as my classic khaki trench. And something bright, for a change from my usual black. I have big hips, so square silhouettes don’t work–I need a waist.

Fabulous coat! Fabulous color! I absolutely LOVE color! I prefer clear bold colors the older I get. Just check out my collection of Lilly Pulitzer – LOL! This clear red is really nice with your coloring and the pink scarf is an inspired touch. I don’t usually wear bold colors. My best are deeper and more subdued. My red is more burgundy, my green is a forest green. Bold colors wears me, not the other way around. Isn’t it so much easier to put outfits together when you understand the colors that work you?

I like those colours on others, but as with Kristien, they don’t suit me. I love a deep red, from cherry to burgundy (provided the burgundy isn’t too dull and brownish) and forest green, which is so hard to find. And still love black, but want alternatives.
I dislike pastel colours.
lagatta, I love forest green too. I’ve seen one or two things this fall in that green, but not my style. I’m hoping that color comes back “in” again.
I so hope it does. I have blue-green eyes and very dark hair gone grey (thus dark and silver streaks) and it just makes me pop. So often greens are olive (ok, if not too yellow) or some lime greens that makes me look ill. Nothing like my beloved plants.
Love the coat! That poppy is wonderful and one of my best colors. I got the silk T and wish I could wear wool…allergic! 🙁 I do love certain bright colors and this is one I snatch up when it comes around. I’m still wearing a bold (‘tomato’) raincoat that I bought several years back and get compliments every time I wear it.

Love this whole look, Sue. The coat…especially with the pink scarf…and the brown boots. You look lovely in bright colours. I can’t wear that specific colour of red…it seems to “embolden” my rosacea… which is never a good look. Funny how subtle shade differences can affect us, eh? I’ve been looking for a camel coat…like you…off and on for a couple of years. And it’s amazing how many different shades of camel there are and how some look fab and some look blech against my skin. So I gave up and bought a pink tweed coat in Macy’s when I was there. Yep. Pink. Can’t believe I did that!

No soft shades for me BOLD colour pretty much on a daily basis. I did recently pick up a high end knit dress in solid grey by designer Robin Kay that screams Eileen Fisher. Oddly enough I really like it. I think I may be sick! LOL

Susan, you look great in bright color! I just bought a fiery red tee shirt from LL Bean to see if I can adjust to wearing really bright colors. It arrived yesterday and is a bit of a shock. So far, I think I like it. It’s certainly a change for me, but change is good… isn’t it?

I wear colors always. It cheers me plus my own coloring (light brown hair, light brown eyes and pale skin with neutral undertones) is such that most “neutral” colors don’t add much to the mix. Navy blue is the best of the lot but that’s tougher to find than you’d think in anything but denim. I wear red and peachy pink, blues, greens, yellows. And white is okay. I love the scarf and jacket on you.

Susan, that color is wonderful and works so well with your complexion and hair color. In fact, I liked the coat so much, I went out and bought it this weekend. I also plan to belt it with my brown Eileen Fisher “obi” belt. ( suggested by the EF rep. who was at the store that day). I think your style is sophisticated and comfortable.
I am 64 and love fashion and style very similar to yours. Although, I like to wear more color.
