  1. Deja, have you ordered from Boden? What do you think? Found the fit off (too-short sleeves on shirts) and the quality not as nice as photos. I live in Canada so must order from UK! (Though I corresponded with their service staff, they will NOT ship to Canada from US, thereby tripling postage.)
They offer a lot of colour and a wide size range up to 20UK/18US.

The coat is ‘cute’- good for a season if you can wear that much print.

  2. I have several dresses from Boden–their wrap dress is particularly flattering I found. Haven’t ordered shirts however. Have been quite pleased with fit and quality and wear.

  3. I’ve never ordered anything from Boden; I just started getting their catalogs recently. Their stuff seems very “preppy” to me, which was why I was amused to see something that reminded me of SATC there. But I will have another look at their catalogs now.

  4. I bought a skirt from them a few years back, and while it did fit, the fabric was horrible — very stiff, heavy cotton, in a muddy floral print. (Needless to say, it didn’t look like that in the catalog!) I looked a bit like my great aunt’s hassock from the waist down, and it went straight back.

I still get their catalog, but have never dared order anything again.

  5. Boden seems like the UK Gap. Overpriced for the quality. If I see one more skirt described as “fun,” or one more shirt described as “colour blocked,” I’m never opening the catalog again. I’ve ordered from them. Sizing is also odd, even with the UK/US conversion in mind.

I would love a printed spring coat, but all of them, including all the patterns in the stores, are full of oversaturated color and ridiculous prints. Where is the subtlety?! Are we women supposed to run around looking like wallpaper samples?!

  6. I like the top photo with the coat that is less contrasty. My gosh, imagine wearing the Boden print coat along with the matching dress. Makes me wince.

  7. duchesse is right not for mothing do they only have one shop in the U.K. Their reputation here is at best adequate. quality and fit variable but sells well on EBay.
However the coat does look fab!

  8. Think I’d get tired of a printed coat or feel like a walking wallpaper sample book.

Thanks for the weigh-in on Boden. IMO J. Crew is far better quality.

  9. I got a Boden catalogue for the fall/winter season. I was kind of meh on it.
I do have a Carrie-esque coat, however, from INC (the Federated private label), purchased at Bloomingdale’s. Mine is a 1X, my hips and thighs take me out of most missy sizes.

  10. Congratulations on finding one! I’ve been after something like she’s wearing in the first pic (per HBO, this is a vintage coat from SJP’s own closet) but haven’t had much luck finding anything similar.
