I have been waiting for the J Crew shrunken cashmere sweaters to go on sale. Can you recommend any colors for a winter pallete? Thank you, Susan!
Hi Mary, best colors for Winters in that style would be Navy, Serene Spruce, and possibly the Belvedere Red.
Susan: I’m about 5’4 1/2″ (used to be 5’5″) and short-waisted. I got the JCrew cropped cashmere in Medium (like yourself) but I find if I lift my arms, my tummy shows. I tried wearing an EF silk shell but it doesn’t work very well. Do you have this problem?? Thanks!
Hi Sally, I’m a bit shorter than you and haven’t found this to be an issue. You might try their Classic Fit crewneck, which are just a little longer (go with your regular size in that style, unless you want an oversized look).
Thanks Sue! I ran right over to Talbots.com and scored a holiday tartan plaid button down shirt for 1/2 off!
Awesome! Love those tartan plaids.
Susan,
Like the Quince silk tee. I’m an autumn and always gravitate to the basil and moss colors, but despite the name… the rose powder color ( at least on my phone ) looks like more of a warm vs. cool undertone. Would you concur ? Would it work for an autumn ?
Hi Nancy, yes, I think that color would be good for an Autumn. It looks close to the Rosewood in your palette.
……. Thinking of matching the rose powder tee with a rust colored cardigan ??
Yes!
I bought the ivory jacket with the gold buttons from Talbots as my 50% purchase! I am bossomy at the moment and order the 14 woman’s petite, as it gives a little extra room in the armpit area that makes wearing it more pleasant. I wear a 38 DD (E) bra.
Awesome, I’m glad you were able to take advantage of the discount. Enjoy that lovely jacket!
You look gorgeous in the red sweater, scarf and jeans Susan!
Xx
Thanks so much, Julie!
What a lovely job you do and have a great weekend. I’m a summer and like the color grey for clothing….thanks for referencing when something is good for a summer (just learning what color/hue looks better on me and why I’ve struggled with some shades of grey).
Hi Susan! These are SO gorgeous but I can’t wear even a touch of wool, even cashmere; it makes me itch so badly! I’d love to see a similar roundup of non-cashmere sweaters 😊. And I’m thrilled that this Winter’s favorite bright blue is a top color for spring ♥️!!
Hi Michelle, I’ll be doing a roundup of wool-free sweaters soon, but in the meantime you might want to take a look at this cotton-silk crewneck from Banana Republic, currently 40% off! https://go.shopmy.us/p-32936346
Hi, and thanks for these cashmere pieces. A while ago, you introduced many of us to the brand Quince and I recently bought a pair of their straight leg cashmere drawstring pants in Teak (a beautiful rich camel color) which have front side pockets and back patch pockets. What beautiful, soft pants!!! I just got them and it is still in the 80s here, so it will be a few days until it dips into the frigid 50s to 70s and I wear cashmere, especially in the morning. Quince prices are very reasonable! At the same time I tried these, I ordered a pair of black cashmere C jogger pants from Bloomingdale’s. These are heavier than the Quince and feel a bit scratchy compared to the heavenly soft feel of the Quince. I have a C cashmere hoodie and a pair of Bloomingdale’s C joggers from last year, and they are very warm and wash easily, drawstring with side pockets, so I waited for this year’s sale to get the joggers in black. B’s enclosed a 15% off coupon with the joggers. I look forward to your other highlighted products. PS I couldn’t remember how to make my Quince purchase go through your site and perhaps get a discount/code. Please remind us again how to do this. Thanks!
Hi Marie, yes, I love Quince sweaters too! I didn’t include them in this roundup as they’re technically not on sale, but they are well-priced. I don’t have a discount code, but here’s a link to their cashmere pieces: https://go.shopmy.us/p-32933850
The fair isle sweater is a change up for you and you look fantabulous in it. I always think black looks good on silver hair, no matter what season you are. love your doggie in the fashion shots.
Thanks so much, Judy!
It doesn’t matter what part of the country I’m in. I cannot wear a sweater, jacket, or really any kind of layering indoors. I am just far too hot (and I’m the size of an elf). Makes it hard to be fashionable!
My favorite cashmere sweaters all come from Garnet Hill- they are incredibly soft and I have some in my closet that I’ve worn for probably fifteen years (the ones I haven’t lost to moths, alas). GH is running a 40% off sale at the moment too!
This is funny. I also fell for a Fair Isle jumper (sweater), ordered it, liked it but hesitated. Then Ron HATED it and I sent it back. You can see it in my new post this Saturday haha.
