The best of Black Friday sales from favorite brands

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, if you celebrate it. I brought jeune homme over from his group home for a few hours, and then took my neighbors up on their invitation to join them for dinner. It was a quiet and relaxing day.

If you’ve been holding out for some serious discounts, now is a great time to find what you’re looking for while selections are still good. Here are a few of my picks from the Black Friday sales…

Susan B. wears an relaxed elegant fall outfit with a cashmere v-neck cardigan, wide leg trousers, and metallic sneakers.
NECKLACE (SIMILAR) | CARDIGAN | TROUSERS | BRACELET | BAG | SNEAKERS (SIMILAR, 50% OFF)

While Vince knitwear can be on the spendy side, I’ve always found the quality to be quite good. This v-neck cashmere cardigan (now 25% off) is a good travel piece, also available in black, and a pretty blue here (code GET25).

I like this one with a collar too, and the “Heather Sea Quartz” color is great for you Autumns! (Also 25% off.)

I think these coated denim pants have been one of my best purchases this season. I wore them frequently in London, and would definitely pack them for future travel, as they’re quite versatile.

Sadly, they’re not marked down yet, but here are some styles in both coated denim and faux leather that are on sale…

Susan B. wears a gold link necklace, beige cashmere cardigan, tortoiseshell link bracelet, carries a dark brown leather tote.
ON SALE NOW: SWEATER | BRACELET | BAG

Many of you commented on this DeMellier London bag when I first shared it; it’s now 20% off with code BF20. (20% discount is sitewide, including lots of new styles!)

Scarves & more…

Here’s something funny…I was “street style snapped” while in London! One of my Instagram followers alerted me to this video. I’m sure it was the scarf that caught their eye…

Susan B. walks in London, wearing a leopard print scarf, down coat, red sweater, blue jeans, brown suede boots.
SCARF | COAT (SIMILAR) | CARDIGAN | JEANS | BOOTS (SIMILAR)

That leopard scarf is one of my most worn, and one I always pack for travel. It’s a cashmere-silk blend, warm and lightweight. It’s 20% off at Black, AND you can get an extra 10% off with code SUSAN10 ! That includes all collections, including all of these leopard print scarves in various colors and patterns!

Susan B. and Ashley model colorful leopard print scarves from BLACK UK.

Not shown: CORNFLOWER BLUE LEOPARD (Summer)

The best of the rest: more Black Friday sale picks

J.Crew

J.Crew has up to 50% off everything, no code needed.

Just about everything I’m wearing here is marked down. I’d been eyeing that striped sweater jacket for some weeks; between the markdown and some Passport rewards I’d saved up, it was enough to reel me in. I sized up to the Medium here, which I think is a better fit.

I’m wearing a Small in the cashmere shell; 28 Petite in the jeans.

Boden

At Boden, you can save up to 40% off full-price styles, with code E3N4. That includes this fabulous wool-blend peacoat. I love this green (great for Springs); it’s also available in a rich camel color (Autumns), standard sizes 2-20/22 (US) and Petites. I’m wearing the 6 Petite here. If you want a more fitted look you can size down, but I wanted it roomy to be able to wear a thicker sweater underneath.

It’s unlined and lightweight, so great for those who live in climates with mild winters.

I’m wearing a Medium in the sweater, 28 in the jeans. (Here’s a favorite Frame jeans style on sale: Le High Straight, 30% off.)

Many of you went for this classic cashmere cardigan when I featured it previously…it’s also included in the 40% off promotion, in case you’d like to pick up a second color. 😉 This “Deep Forest” green is good for you Winters.

Madewell

Madewell has 50% off your purchase with code LETSGO, and that includes both full-price and some items already marked down.

Talbot’s

You can save 50% off 1 item (until noon today) and 40% off your entire purchase until midnight at Talbot’s. I saw a lot of Teddy Coat Action in London…this one in Indigo (Navy) is a nice alternative to black, but still versatile. In Misses, Petite and Plus sizes, also in Camel.

Lo & Sons

Whether you’re planning to travel, or are looking for gift ideas for someone who is, you’ll want to check out the sale at Lo & Sons for up to 70% off. That includes my favorite Pearl crossbody (lots of new colors, too!), and this Nouvelle crossbody bag in recycled nylon. It’s light as a feather, but still has lots of interior organization, and a comfortable padded shoulder/crossbody strap. It’s offered in several colors; I think this dark green is an unexpected but versatile choice.

  1. i am so confused! i am blonde with dark brown eyes. i thought i was a summer but i could be a spring. 🙁 i love the cedar wood sweater blazer but i really want the Old Forest green! Think I could wear both colors?

    1. Hi Marcia, if you’re an Autumn, you might be able to wear both colors, but without having done a color analysis on you, it’s impossible for me to tell you which season you might be. My suggestion would be to look at the colors you wear most, and see which color sweater blazer would coordinate best.

  2. Thank you for all the great choices! As I was decorating for Christmas yesterday, I found myself applying the three color rule you shared when it comes to dressing. It was so helpful! I always notice when something is a bit off, but don’t always know what needs tweaking. To my amazement, when I tried the color rule everything came together beautifully. I plan to use this for future interior decorating as well as clothing. I can’t thank you enough!

  3. How flattering that you were featured in the video – you did indeed look very stylish. I wonder how many of those women were visitors to London as you were? The only ‘locals’ I could pick, were the women wearing a poppy for Remembrance Day.

  4. Great roundup of holiday sales. That Lo and Sons nylon bag looks tempting. So cool that someone else thought you were fashionable too, although I’m sure it’s weird being filmed without your consent. At least it’s all in good fun.

  6. Hi Susan—The link for the scarf regardless which link I used, encountered a server error message.
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving

  7. Susan this is a lot of hard work on your part! Thank you for sharing! I love the look (and sound!) of the Lo and Sons lightweight handbag and am delighted that it’s on sale. I think it’s so cool that you got videoed in London on a street style IG site! I suspect you were captured for more than the scarf! 😉 Your total look is very contemporary. I wish I could get in to leopard prints but animal prints are just not me. I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.

  8. Lots of great options, thank you! I very much appreciate the pattern matching of the pockets on that striped sweater jacket; it really elevates it. (Mismatched patterns are a pet peeve).FYI, the link you put on the Athleta pants actually goes to the Madewell site.

  9. Thanks for doing the “heavy lifting” question about jcrew reds…..I can’t tell the difference between festive red, candy apple and cardinal. I know you mentioned that festive red was a neutral red. Any info about the other two reds? I am SO challenged when it comes to distinguishing warm vs cool colors online!!
    Thx, Susan.

    1. Hi Linda, it’s not just you…it can be very difficult to get colors accurate in images. (And it doesn’t help when some retailers filter the heck out of every image…) Candy Apple red is a slightly more pinky red (cooler), at least in the pieces I’ve seen. Cardinal red looks slightly cool on my monitor, but haven’t seen any of those pieces in person yet.
