Casual spring jackets for women - une femme d'un certain âge

A few easy spring jackets that caught my eye

If there’s one wardrobe item I rely on to make outfits look “finished,” it’s a jacket of some sort. I’ve been checking out new arrivals for spring, and bookmarked some great throw-on-and-go jackets to share with you.

Casual spring jackets

Madewell cropped quilted shirt jacket in warm beige.

Madewell always has such great casual jackets. If I didn’t already have a bunch of brown and camel jackets in my wardrobe, I’d be all over this one! (Available in Misses & Plus sizes.)

Madewell striped chore jacket in brown.

I love this striped chore jacket too!

Madewell stitched denim chore jacket.

This one’s more laid-back than a navy blazer, but more refined than a traditional denim jacket.

Ann Taylor black and white tweed jacket.

If your style is a little more classic or polished, here’s a little tweed jacket with a flattering shape. (Ann Taylor is currently offering 40% off full priced styles with code STYLISH.)

Ann Taylor sweater blazer French blue.

I love a good sweater blazer. This one is available in Misses and Petites and has a two-button closure. There are several colors available, but this French blue is quite nice (probably best for you Winters and some Springs.) Also 40% off with code STYLISH.

Loft tweed sweater jacket.

Here’s a cute and budget-friendly tweed sweater jacket.

Liverpool Los Angeles plaid boyfriend blazer.

A relaxed fit and soft plaid make this a great work-to-weekend blazer.

Alex Mill Britt chore jacket in recycled denim.

I always love a classic chore jacket. This one’s made with recycled denim, available in sizes XXS-XXL.

Anthropologie Pilcro floral utility jacket.

I really like the juxstaposition of a pretty floral print with the slightly more rugged vibe of a utility jacket. In Misses, Petite, and Plus sizes.

Talbots double-breasted long tweed blazer.

And if you love the look of tweed, but prefer a longer jacket, this one’s worth a look. Available in Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizes.

Eileen Fisher linen delave jacket tarragon

If the weather warms up early in the season where you live, something in breathable linen might be just the thing. Misses, Petite and Plus sizes available.

I love jackets so much that I have 17 hanging up in my wardrobe , at the last count ! I am careful to get coats wide enough to go on top . My mother and my (favourite) aunt preferred cardigans and were always telling me to wear them but they look awful on me – sort of drippy . I have wide square shoulders so look and feel more – effective , I guess in a jacket . But of course now (as you have shown) you can get them in all weights of fabric and styles – very useful with the climate in England .

I too have broad shoulders and much prefer structured jackets to cardigans–cardigans make me feel frumpy and huge. I also like shirt blouses in soft fabrics (never stiff) and V-neck sweaters or tops that divide my shoulder line. I love military style jackets with lots of buttons!

I do feel like the chore jackets and some of the cardigan jackets can skew a bit frumpy, at least they would on me. If they’re styled with a slim silhouette underneath, that would probably help. Not surprisingly, I quite like the tweed jacket!

I love jackets. I’m glad you believe they complete an outfit and you show so many interesting ones. I like mine long, so any effort to add more long jackets to the photos would be appreciated.
