Updates from London: my travel outfits & more

My travel wardrobe is working out brilliantly so far. Here’s what I wore for the second day of training…

Susan B. wears a beige and brown patterned sweater, brown corduroy jeans, brown ankle boots, gold necklace.

And the third day…

Susan B wears a cream cashmere sweater, blue and coral silk scarf, dark brown pants and boots.

The neutrals were a good choice, and the packable down coat has been perfect for outdoors. You can see my full travel wardrobe here 👇

Color analysis training

Manina wasn’t kidding when she said the color analysis training would be intensive! After the first day of introductory training, we’ve been working on 6 or 7 models per day. It’s both exhilarating and exhausting. We have three more days of color training with models, then next week we’ll be training on Style Personality Profiles, again with models.

Color drapes and setup for color analysis at Red Leopard.

I’ll be sharing some images of the models and their color palettes in my Instagram Stories. Look in the Color Analysis highlights in my profile.

As part of the color training, we’ve been applying some basic makeup to the women models. Red Leopard likes to use Jane Iredale products, some of which I’ve used before.

Susan B. wears Jane Iredale makeup and an Emma J. Shipley x Red Leopard scarf.

I’ve been trying a few more of the products while I’m here and really like:

All of the Jane Iredale products are clean and cruelty free. I’m really liking these and will probably continue to use them at home.

Now I need to study up for our next session…more to come!

    1. I’m curious what the color experts think about your decision to go gray? Do they consider hair color in their overall analysis of a client? Great outfits, perfect packing as usual!!

  1. Such an exciting adventure. I bet your head is spinning by the end of the day. I hope you get some down time to have fun before you come back home. Love, reading your updates.

  2. Yes to Jane Iredale! I’ve used her serum and tinted moisturizer for several years and won’t change. I, too, enjoy your updates. You always have the right and stylish eyeglass frames.

  3. I’m sure you’re having a great time, I wish I was in the room learning over your shoulder. I find color analysis fascinating. What a wonderful opportunity. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Oh, one question, why are there so few “ summers”? I have been analyzed as “ blue autumn “ by RL online in 2020, but was previously summer. Just curious. Thanks, have fun!

  4. I’m excited for you Susan! I’d loved to do this myself but I’ll probably request you to help me when you get your consultation up and running. Annie has been fabulous but it’s nice to have a local consultant too!

  5. I’ve seen some of your color analysis clients with their final colors on your IG Stories–and WOW! They look phenomenal surrounded by their correct colors. Obviously, you’ve got an eye and are helping them figure out what works best. Can’t wait to see more of what you’re doing. Hope you’re having as much fun with the program as we’re all having watching you do it! 🙂

  6. I’ve liked the Jane Iredale products I’ve tried. But, I’ve learned to avoid mineral foundation of any brand. I found that the mineral foundation looks great when I apply it, but seems to settle into the fine lines on my face that don’t normally show as the day goes on. I would notice that while looking at the rearview mirror on the way home after work. I didn’t connect it to the foundation at first, I would just think, “wow, I look tired!”. After this happened a few times, I finally decided to omit the foundation, and found that was the culprit.

  7. I’ve used Jane Iredale foundation in pressed powder form and neutral powder in a pressed form (sets the foundation), several blushes, several lipsticks and glosses, and several of their facial sprays to set the powders for 15+ years after learning of them at a cosmetic dermatologist’s office. I think using treatments that keep my pores clean helps the foundation stay smooth, instead of caking up in a wrinkle! Also, I do use another Co’s tinted SPF 30 moisturizer that is a great blank canvas for a powder foundation.

    Enjoying your travel recaps, Susan!

  8. My aesthetician recommended some products by Jane Iredale a few years ago, and I feel they work well for me. I also love your scarf. PS: I purchased the Madewell Chore Sweater/Jacket you recently featured. I was instantly drawn to it in your photographs. I did not think about traveling with it, but when you showed it as part of your travel wardrobe, I decided to purchase it. I had to size down from the size chart as the first one I ordered was too large, and the sleeves are much too long (but turned up once I think they still look nice). Today the proper size came and I really love the fit and color on me. I am hoping it is a start in a good color palette direction. Thank you! Have a great time!
