Comfortable Shoes, On Sale…
One of the aspects of my Gamine style profile that I was most thrilled with was the footwear options. It turns out, many of the “jolie laide” shoes I’ve always been drawn to were perfect for this profile. Manina told me, “think flat, fun, funky.” Menswear-inpsired styles (like loafers and brogues) are good too, as are not-too-high wedges.
I’ve been wearing the Eileen Fisher “Sport” sandals for a few years now. They’re fun and very comfortable. Above: here’s a version on the same footbed, but with thinner webbed straps.
And a few more styles of comfortable shoes on sale…
Here’s a “fun and funky” waterproof sneaker with a hidden wedge. I tried these on and found they run about 1/2 size large. Have a smaller size on order and will report back.
A serrated platform sole and navy patent finish make this loafer a fun choice.
This laceless oxford is really cute IRL, and from a brand known for comfort. It would look great with skirts or pants.
Many of you asked about the shoes Manina was wearing in this post. Here they are, and currently 50% off! She’s also a Gamine (though with a Winter palette) and they suit her style perfectly!
These might just be the perfect summer shoe…cute, comfortable and that raffia allows plenty of air flow even on sweltering days.
Paul Green is another brand that’s known for comfort. These boots are more casual, would look great with a more natural or Boho style. What I really like is that the boot shaft is soft, so doesn’t dig into your leg.
For those who need wide or narrow widths, this sleek ankle boot is offered in both.
Many of you love these ECCO sneakers for comfort and style. This metallic finish is versatile and can transition nicely into Fall.
What style(s) of shoes do you find most comfortable?

I have tried to look for the multi color sneakers, (green/red) with no success… The link you have is not the same sneaker… Can you please try to find the link for me. Thanks in advance.
Hi, not sure which sneakers you’re referring to, not seeing a green/red sneaker in this post?
In the original picture, the lovely lady with the red pant suit has them on.. They are a platform shoe…
Ah, those were from an earlier season and I’m no longer able to find them online. Here’s an oxford with the same pattern, also on sale: https://shopstyle.it/l/5U1v
Thank you so much Susan for getting back to me… I will check them out, however, I love the platform style!
I love your blog and have gotten many items you have suggested over the years..
Have a wonderful day!
You too, Pat, thanks!
Just a reminder for those of us with plantar fasciitis or a history of it. Flat shoes are so so cute but not great for us folk in a regular basis. Go for the slight 10mm or more drop! Heel higher than toe of course! Cute shoes Susan!
Thanks! Yes, I’ve recently developed it too. Most of these styles have a slightly elevated heel.
I have a sneaky suspicion that I’m the same style as you are, I LOVE all of those shoes! I’ve been looking at shoes lately as I can’t wear ‘heels’ anymore however, I can wear the platform. The styles that are out now perfectly suit your style profile. Thanks for taking us on your style/color journey!
I have plantar fasciitis and I own the laseless oxfords, they are all day comfortable, one of the best buys I have made.
Love the leopard print sneakers! Although I have already made my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, I just had to buy these. At checkout I was surprised to see my Nordy dollars already posted. I used them and wound up getting the sneakers for $25 (including tax). Thanks for the heads up on the sale and some of the best items.
Susan, will you do a post on how your Gamin style was determined?
I’ll give it a shot. 😉
Yes, I’m also interested in knowing how your Gamin style was determined.
Along with Gamin, what were some of the other “styles”?
Diva, Classic, Huntswoman (Natural Classic), Adventurer (Natural), Princess, Bohemian (Natural Romantic), Starlet, Romantic, Gypsy. Red Leopard regularly posts examples on their InstaStories, so if you want to see visual representations, that’s a good place to start.
thank you for your quick response. love your blog – follow every day. 😎
Susan — Thanks for the waterproof sneaker, which comes in size 12! We tall, big-footed girls have a tough time finding cute shoes so was so happy to learn about this shoe!
I’m kind of in love with those Paul Green boots and was hoping someone would review them, did you happen to try them on?
Hi – curious if you purchased the ‘funky waterproof sneakers’ and if so, what would you use them with ?
I purchased them because they looked so cure. Now I am unsure how to wear them.
Hi Leena, I found I was between sizes, so did not purchase them. I do think they are cute. I’d style the same as you would with a casual ankle boot. With pants, I’d stick to cropped or cuffed styles to show the entire shoe, or else wear with skinnies or leggings.
