Dans le jardin

May is busting out all over, and almost everything blooming right now seems to be yellow or some shade of purple.

Yarrow

We planted these vines in 2010; it’s the first time they’ve bloomed and I’m looking forward to seeing what the flowers look like.

  1. What a great way to take the time to observe the beauty around you. Another good way to take some time to achieve some balance.

  2. Pretty! I love this time of year in California. So much color everywhere you look.

  3. Lovely photos.Have you planted your tomatoes yet?
Last week I discovered minature orchids growing wild in the garden. Maybe I will post a photo of them this weekend.

    1. Belle, if things go as planned, I’ll pull out the volunteer tomatoes (sprouted from last years crop) and replant this weekend. I’m still trying to find a variety that will do well in that spot. So far the fruits have been disappointing, not as much flavor as I’d hoped. Would love to see pictures of your wild orchids!

  4. Beautiful photos. We’re in the middle of a big remodel and our backyard is torn up. Nice to see a blooming Southern California garden.

  5. Are the last flowers snap-dragons? That took me back to my childhood. We only have mock orange and roses and dandelions blooming in our yard.

    1. Terri, they’re not snap dragons, but the flowers look a bit similar, don’t they? These are perennial shrubs, can’t remember the name though.
