Deep Thought

This “taking better care of oneself” business really is time consuming, isn’t it?

  1. I find many people say they haven’t time to take care of themselves! Yet I think it doesn’t have to take that long, there are definitely short cuts.

What part of taking care of yourself do you find takes the most time?

  2. I am so glad you said that, Deja! I’m laughing out loud, because this morning I did so many “take care of myself” things that when I got to my office to work after lunch, I had to take a nap. (I work alone.) I actually stress myself out with all the pressure to take care of myself better. Hmmm. Is that self-defeating?? 🙂

  3. Taking care of my hair is definitely the most time-consuming, it’s stright and fine. I must do something every day to add curls for body before I style it, just putting it up isn’t an option.

  4. Metscan – I’m referring mostly to trying to eat better fresher food, and remembering to take my vitamins (and calcium!).

sallymandy – one has to wonder sometimes,n’est-ce pas? If I fix and eat breakfast, I know it’s better for me but it’s so much easier to get out of the house in the morning if I skip!

  5. Imogen – I was mostly thinking about the planning, shopping, prepping, cooking and packing that my recent dietary changes seem to require. And making time each morning to fix and eat breakfast/take vitamins as I noted above.

Rita – but so worth it, your hair is lovely!

  6. I have an issue with breakfast too! I tend to find that by the time I’ve got the kids up, dresseed, breakfasted, homework done, bags packed, myself up, dressed, ready for work, emails check, breakfast comes as a yoghurt smoothie that I quickly make then drink in the car!

  7. My two favourite meals of the day are breakfast and cocktails (if cocktails can be viewed as a meal!). Yes, I remember finding the WW meal planning very time consuming, but stick at it and you’ll soon find you don’t need to weigh everything as you’ll be able to judge by sight.

Taking vitamins shouldn’t take too long though. Why not get a weekly case and allocate your pills to each day’s compartment. Then all you need to do is grab the handfull for the day.

BTW I’ve just added chromium to my daily vitamin and minerals. It is supposed to stabilise blood sugar and therefore suppress appetite. I’ve only been taking it for a couple of days, but so far so good.

  8. Deja, you may already know this, but calcium is better absorbed by the body if taken in the evening with vitament D and magnesium. When you think of the old way of having a milky drink before bedtime it starts to make sense.

Keep the pills by your bedside and you won’t forget.

  9. Ah, now I got it. Thanks ! I remember when my hb joined WW many years ago. He bought food to the house that we normally didn´t have, and it was painful to watch him weighing and measuring everything. Thank god he ended the thing in days. Luckily today they have a new system at the WW.
