Thursday Miscellany: Ruby Slippers And More
It’s been a busy week, so I’m cutting myself a little slack with a shorter post today. 😉
Red Flats And Raincoats…
First, I wanted to report back about the new square-toed red flats from Everlane …I LOVE them!!! ❤️ I think they have a Céline-esque vibe. They’re quite comfortable, and run true-to-size. If you have a wide foot, you may want to consider going ½ size up. I’m so glad I ordered the red; I think they’ll be a fun accent. Just a note: the color is more of a true lipstick red than it appears here. I couldn’t get the color quite right in the image.
After Monday’s post about travel raincoats, curiosity got the better of me and I ordered the lavender waterproof jacket to try on. It’s super cute, and I’m keeping it! Seems to run TTS…the X-Small/Small fits me generously enough to easily wear over layers without looking too oversized. It’s quite lightweight and packable. Looks like we have more rain in the forecast next week, so I’ll take it out for a test drive.
Chez Nous…
Between the physical therapy and medication, Byron has shown some improvement in his mobility. He’s walking a little easier, and is able to navigate the 3 steps from the backyard to the house. (Though I try to intercept and lift him up…vet says it’s better to prevent him from straining.)
With any luck, our rose bushes will be going in this week. The landscaper has been waiting for the rain and wind to subside for a few days, and it looks as though we’ll have a window. They’re bare-root plants, so we won’t have blooms for a few weeks.
I’ll also be taking advantage of that weather window to photograph some outfits, hope to have some fun things to show you soon.

I really like your shoes and the square toe. Much better for our feet. Beautiful color! I think I would be tempted to skip instead of walk in such happy shoes.

I have had a thing for red shoes all my life. Red makes me happy! I have a lot of red shoes but there’s always room for more – these flats are gorgeous!!
A friend once told me “red shoes aren’t just an accessories, they’re an attitude!” I agree and always have at least one pair in my collection!

Love the casual with attitude vibe. Your research you share is wonderful. Although I grew up So Cal I have lived in Helena , Montana for 30 yrs. Not much style or shopping here. Challenging. Loved the post on the J Crew sale. I bought several things. Thanks. The internet works best. I’ve always loved fashion and refuse to give it up with age. You show us all we can have style as we get older.
P.s. I’ve always loved everything French, and red just makes me happy.
LOVE the shoes! Alas, my pointy feet do best in a pointed toe. I find slip-ons problematic, in general, as my heels always slip in them, so I’ll have to stick with my red boots for now.

I am loving your blog and was so delighted to read Mondays post about raincoats. I have been looking for one in a neutral color and loved the coat in the “champagne” color. I ordered it from Macy’s and hope that it works out. I have fair skin and light hair and happy that pink is a popular color this spring. I loved the lipstick that you were wearing on a recent blog and wondering what the color was and where I could purchase it.
