Alice + Olivia leopard d'orsay
Alice + Olivia

For those who are tempted to take a walk on the wild side but are wary of too much animal print (*cough*Cougar*cough*) shoes and boots are a fabulous way to include a wee bit of Wild Kingdom in one’s wardrobe. Animal prints are classic, but at the same time add some punch to a simple outfit, work well with most colors, and serve up some everyday glamour.

I’m a fan of leopard print, but zebra, tiger, giraffe, and reptile prints are all great options. I’ve shown mostly flats and low-heels here as I love the juxstaposition of understated and flashy. Which animal print is your favorite?

  1. I keep thinking that trend must be dying soon, but it just keeps going and going! I only have a few leopard prints, and two are on shoes. I do like leopard and I’m thinking maybe a scarf would be good. But now plaid seems to be everywhere (at least on the blogs). Is that the next big thing, because I really want some plaid shoes!

  2. I have 2 pr of leopard shoes and love them to bits. (I also have sweaters and shirts, but never wear more than 1 animal print with an outfit). I’d love a bit of giraffe because it’s so uncommon. And me — I hope the trend sticks for a while yet. But yeah, bring on the plaid as well.

  3. But, but python isn’t really animal print is it? And crocodile is entirely different from leopard, right? And sneakers would never sub for heels, and flats are so good for you…
