I’ve found my fisherman sandals, and a few random things

Just circling back to let you know these fisherman sandals are keepers. They’re currently 25% off too!

Madewell closed-toe fisherman sandals.

I ordered both the 7 and 7.5. The 7 was a perfect fit, and they were pretty comfortable right out the the box. There’s nice padding in the sole, and some arch support. Currently 25% off with code LONGWEEKEND.

Everlane leather fisherman sandals white

Everlane has a very similar style, available in 4 colors, and it’s also on sale.

More fisherman sandals

It’s been a busy couple of days chez nous (all good stuff), so I’m a little behind on posts. We’re looking forward to a mostly quiet weekend, and I hope to get caught up here.

We recently watched the series “Julia” on HBO Max, and it’s inspired me to try some of her recipes. So I ordered Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I’ll let you know what I try and how it works out.

Peonies from Trader Joe's in pink and peach.

May is peony season, and I alway try to pick up a couple of bunches from Trader Joe’s. This batch was spectacular! I’ve never seen peonies in that coral color, which turned to a light peach once they opened up. Run don’t walk, they won’t be around long.

  1. Love your blog! And your clothes!
I believe I’m a Spring or spring -summer or I was in the 1980s (?) when Color Me Beautiful stylists were in many boutiques.
These fisherman shoes are great and do speak my name!

  2. Hope you enjoy Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I have a first edition that was given to me by my late mother-in-law. It is well worn and though some of the recipes can be challenging, the results are delicious as expected.

  3. I smiled when I saw that these sandals are advertised as “BYE, BREAK-IN TIME.” Last night I read that Queen Elizabeth has a staff member to break in all her shoes for her. LOL!

  4. I’d love to buy one of these pairs of fisherman sandals – Everlane or Madewell. There isn’t much of a difference visually so how do I decide?

  5. Love anything that covers up toes and you’ve got such great ankles, the fisherman sandals look great!

  6. In college in the 1980s I had a pair of fisherman sandals that I wore to death. They seemed to go with anything and were comfortable but a little dressy. I’ve looked for a similar pair many times since but had almost given up (finding the right ratio of not too chunky/not too refined proved difficult). Thank you for these options — I definitely will try them and hopefully one of them will be a match for my feet!

  7. I won’t try such shoes as I know they will rub and give me blisters. But they look good.
Peonies are my favourite flowers. You did pick up special colours indeed.

  8. I have been wanting some fisherman sandals since last summer. Years ago I had a Cole-Haan woven pair that I loved. After seeing this post I ordered a black pair. When fall comes around I plan to add a pair of socks. Even though I consider myself a soft summer, I do like black accessories – belts, shoes, handbags. We’ll see how they work out.

  9. Thank you for posting these fisherman sandals! I totally forgot about this style and I think these will be super with a new pair of ankle cargo pants from Chico’s I haven’t worn yet. I’m also hoping these will look good with some shorts I purchased. I think we are close to the same age and you show styles that are fashionable, fun and updated. It’s hard for me to find updated youthful looks that are still age appropriate. You always look fantastic!

  10. Hi, Susan…

I tried the Madewell sandals. They look great, and they fit well. However, the sole is some kind of synthetic, probably PVC, that is very stiff and doesn’t bend at all. It makes the sandal upper pull up and down at the heel, which is awkward for walking. Sadly, I’m returning and am on the lookout for something with a more flexible sole. I’ve noticed a number of manufacturers are switching to synthetic soles for sustainability. However, not all synthetics are walkable.

    1. Hi Ann, I’m sorry they didn’t work out for you. I didn’t find the sole particularly stiff, and they did soften up even more after walking a little bit.
