What I love this week: French & French-inspired goodies

Since we started off the week with some French-inspired style, I thought it would be fun to finish up with a similar theme.

An American in Provence…

An American in Provence book cover.

That’s the theme of the February box from My French Country Home. This gorgeous (signed) coffee-table-sized book by Jamie Beck was the first of the lovely gifts in this subscription box. The book is a collection of stunning images, recipes, photography tips, and lifestyle from Provence, and I can’t wait to spend some time looking through it at length.

Sharon Santoni partnered with the book’s author, Jamie Beck for this month’s selection of French gifts. In addition to the book and a gorgeous photo print by Jamie, were:

My French Country Home subscription box gifts for February 2023.
  • a gorgeous rose print paperweight (also by Jamie Beck)
  • a lovely velvet travel jewelry case by Sézane
  • a pretty stone necklace from Bohm
  • a ceramic palette and lavender essential oil (have already deployed this in my closet)
  • a jar of organic body scrub from Laboratoires du Cap-Ferrat (this smells heavenly and I can’t wait to try it!)
  • a pretty lip and cheek stain from Yolaine
  • an antique silver Timbale cup (which I’ve already put to use as a small vase)

The Box from My French Country Home is issued quarterly, and it’s a fabulous way to discover French brands and products. The next box will be sent in May, and would make a lovely Mothers’ Day gift! You can also shop many of the items found in past boxes, as well as brocante finds in the My French Country Home Boutique.

Paris-inspired with an L.A. attitude…

French Kande just dropped a new “stack-up” collection this week, and OMG, so many of these pieces are calling my name!

The “Soleil” collection features lots of sunny-hued stone mixes and gold hardware. While the pieces are designed to coordinate so they’re easy to wear together, they’d each look fabulous worn on their own or with other jewelry.

I’ve already ordered that long necklace, which can be worn several ways, and the stone bracelet. These pieces will coordinate nicely with others I’ve been wearing often. But if I were starting up a French Kande collection from scratch, I’d probably go with that mid-length stone necklace, which will look fabulous on its own and will layer nicely with other pieces down the road.

Solving mysteries in French wine country…

Blood of the Vine French murder mystery series: man with gray hair in a suit holds a glass of wine with a vineyard in the background.

If you enjoy murder mysteries, winemaking, and beautiful scenery from the French countryside, you may enjoy this series (Blood of the Vine) which premiered in 2011. The main character, Benjamin Lebel is a wine expert who somehow gets pulled into solving wine-related murders. (Improbable, oui, but entertaining.)

It’s available on Amazon Prime, and may be on some other streaming services as well.

Bon weekend!

  1. I’m always envious of the gorgeous items in those boxes. One day, I’ll break down and buy one! Thanks for this streaming rec. A fun series we’re enjoying is “Under the Vines,” on Acorn. Set in New Zealand, there are fun characters who always have some kind of adventure. Another great series is “Madame Blanc Mysteries.” Provence, antiques, and murder … nothing better!

  2. Susan, a question about the French Kande bracelets and necklaces. Is there a metal wire or stretchy elastic thread that goes through the beads?

  3. The French Kande stone jewelry is beautiful… you wear all of your collection well, Susan.
I was recently strolling along the water side streets of Les Sainte, Guadeloupe , and found a beautiful pearl and stone necklace that shows all of the colours of my holiday wardrobe . Reasonably priced, so happy to give the vendor what he asked. Wore it almost every evening on board the PONANT small ship… only 123 passengers for this Eastern Caribbean cruise.
Sigh…home again , but with lovely memories.
