Weekend Forecast: Casual With Intermittent Glam

Susan B. wears a hooded leopard print faux fur jacket. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving!

Leopard Print And Sparkle

A little bit of glamour is good for the soul. While we may have once associated glamour with dressing up, it’s no longer limited just to formal occasions. I love finding ways to add some Casual Glamour to an everyday look.

I didn’t want to wait to show you this leopard print jacket, so that you might be able take advantage of Black Friday discounts. I styled it casually here, and braved our Thanksgiving week heat wave to get a photo. My neighbors were amused.

Wearing: jacket | sweater (similar) | necklace (c/o) | ring (similar) | jeans (similar)

The jacket has a snap front, and runs true-to-size. It’s a good-looking leopard print too. I get that some people are put off by leopard print, but I’ve always loved it. There’s a certain louche glamour to leopard that appeals to my irreverent side.

Just a note: I stopped wearing anything with real fur years ago. And I don’t show or promote it here. You can always assume that any “fur” I’m wearing is faux.

Detail: French Kande vintage medallion necklace with Swarovski crystals. More at une femme d'un certain age.

The embedded Swarovski crystals are a standout addition to this Rex medallion. (Necklace gifted from French Kande.) It’s a nice mid-length that layers well with shorter or longer necklaces. All French Kande pieces are handmade in Los Angeles, and made to order. Many styles also offer the option to customize by choosing a different medallion, for something truly unique.

    That’s the day’s best title.
    I love leopard!

The coat is so cute…it goes without saying if you own a lot of leopard only wear one piece at a time. Yesterday I saw a woman in leopard tights and a leopard jacket and leopard shoes BUT she had toned it down with a black bag! Not a woman of a certain age..she looked late twenties! Unfortunately, even at that young age it gave off that crazy cat lady vibe…

I love your posts on leopard! I have multiple shades of grey, silver and white hair and find the leopard variations are best for me in the grey/charcoal/black versions. Perhaps you could post some leopard in those colors (if you find them)! Thank you!

Hi Patricia, here’s a pretty black and white leopard print scarf: http://shopstyle.it/l/oK2o I’ll keep my eyes open for more options in this colorway.

Apparently, this was the warmest Thanksgiving in Los Angeles since they started keeping records. I imagine you took off that snazzy new jacket the instant the photo shoot was over!

LOVE that jacket! On you! Ditto Patricia Aleppo cause I have white hair too.

This jacket is sooo good. I adore it. Exactly the right length for you (for a jacket like this, as Ilike the length of your camel coat as well, but that is a different shape). And such a great leopard print. You are going to turn heads. The jewellery is making me wanting it again. So nice. Is the ring theirs too?

Thanks, Greetje! Yes, the ring is from French Kande too.

Reptile print is my leopard. The colors and pattern (more subtle) just work for me and for my coloring (more gray/taupe/black and less warm camel). If you find any great pieces in reptile, please let us know about them too!

GOSH that leopard is just so cute. I’m plus size and I noticed Nordy has some very cute options. There’s one on my Christmas list! All of the leopard print things you show are just so tempting. But I”m sure a little goes a long way!!! Thanks as always, Susan
