Pick of the week: a good summer-weight tee
There’s nothing better than linen for staying cool in summer heat. I’m a big fan of linen tees, not only for comfort, but because they drape nicely and add some fluidity to an outfit.
Earlier this week I stopped by our local J.Crew and came home with a couple of these linen tees in the crewneck style. (The striped one shown here, and a bright cantelope color.) I’ve since ordered a couple more colors, as they’re 50% off with code SUNNY. (Until midnight tonight only, though.)
There’s also a v-neck style, and it’s also included in the 50% off promo! Both styles are available in lots of colors, sizes XX-Small to 3X. I found the cut to be generous, and the X-Small is still plenty roomy (perfect for doing a half-tuck!)
The lighter colors in this linen tee are a bit more sheer, but not so much so that I’m uncomfortable wearing on their own. YMMV. The “vintage cotton” tees (crewneck and v-neck) will be more opaque and are also 50% off with code SUNNY!

Thanks for this. I’ve been looking for a high-neck linen tank (to wear under cardigans, jackets, blouses, etc.) kind of like Eileen Fisher used to make in the good old days. I never would have guessed J Crew had an option – I ordered 3 of the so-called muscle tanks. Love!

I bought and returned several of the J Crew linen tees as I found them to be quite shapeless on my petite frame (too big through the shoulders and sleeves) and unavailable in petite sizing. Very disappointing as I haven’t found any other s/s linen tees this season from any other retailer. EF offered l/s linen tees in P but not s/s. Crazy! There have to be a lot of us shorties in the world!
I almost pulled the trigger and ordered a couple of these until I read the description and reviews. Sounds like J Crew has changed the cut on these to a more cropped fit :(. That unfortunately wouldn’t work for me. Disappointing because they have some really lovely colors in the linen.
I am happy to see these linen T’s . Previously, I purchased some neutral ones from Banana Republic, but these JCrew colours are great, and will work with the revamping of my closet. More soft autumns with scarves for added interest. I carry my wee book of colours from Red Leopard when I shop now.
Hope the J Crew linen tees are better than last year. I got to wear mine 3-4 times before it became a shapeless, scratchy mess! (Never dried in dryer either.) Usually J Crew quality is fine, so hopefully the fabric is better this year.
