The Sales I’m Shopping This Week

Sifting Through The Net-a-Porter Sale…

Net-A-Porter doesn’t often mark down current season items, but they’re now offering 15% off a huge swath of their inventory with code NEWSEASONREFRESH. (Some exclusions.) While NAP is known for their high-end designer goods, they also carry many mid-range brands and selected pieces from budget-friendly brands like J.Crew and Madewell.

Here are a few goodies I’ve already jumped on…

Loeffler Randall woven leather small tote with tortoiseshell handle. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

Yeah, that bag. The combination of a neutral color, simple shape, interesting texture and handle made this one a slam dunk.

Aurelia bamboo face muslins (set of 7). Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I’ve been meaning to replace my washcloth with some facial muslins. These come in a set of 7, and are made from bamboo, which has antibacterial properties.

Isabel Marant gold tone hoop earrings. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I’ve had my eye on these earrings for a while.

Charlotte Tilbury products are included in the sale, so taking advantage to stock up on my favorite mascara.

If I thought they wouldn’t be too wide for my face, I’d be all over those sunglasses above, which have a cool 90’s look (think Carolyn Bessette Kennedy).

The Net-a-Porter Sale Edit

Here are a few more of my picks from the sale. I’ve tried to steer clear of anything that seems close to being sold out, but some items may have limited availability.

More Spring Sales:

Madewell tan crisscross slides with low heel. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

Elsewhere, I took advantage of 25% off at Madewell to give these slides a try.

J.Crew tweed sweater jacket in pink. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

This tweed sweater jacket is new and is 30% off with code NEWNEW (Sizes up to 3X.) Also available in a neutral grey-green color, which I ordered to try.

I LOVE both of the earring choices, but they are terribly overpriced as they are not actually solid gold, but merely base metal, gold colored (not even plated!). I wish I was still taking the jewelry classes as I could make both fairly easily. But, alas, I am not…

Have you ever shopped Jewelry television, also known as JTV? You can get real gems, and real silver for half the price (a third or a quarter even) of these fakes. They also have a lot of gold plated over silver, and a few shows that have solid gold too. As well as the real jewels, they have some “simulants” as well–so beware… Luckily everything has a 30-day return; even the clearance sale pieces, so you are safe there. Check out the TV show or the website jtv.com Personally, I haven’t purchased anything yet, but I’ve just enjoyed seeing the gems with the incredible prices.

Would you comment on why the mascara is a favorite?

Hi Karen, I like it because it goes on smoothly without clumping, adds volume, doesn’t flake or smear during the day (no “raccoon eyes”) and it comes off easily with my regular cleanser. Plus, Charlotte Tilbury is a cruelty-free brand.
