One of those days
Yesterday, it was one of those days…
…that started with a donut and went downhill from there.
…wherein I returned from a quick trip to the loo to find 45 new emails in my inbox, most of which required an immediate response. (And the scenario repeated all day, anytime I stepped away from my desk for any reason.)
…that was so demanding and frustrating that by the time I arrived home from work, my brain was mush, and all I wanted was a glass of wine and something mindless on the TV.
So I’m outsourcing today, but keeping it colorful.
Lisa takes a dip into the blue.
Imogen shows us how to choose eyeglasses frames.
This color, Mussel, available in several pieces at Eileen Fisher this month, is a wonderful alternative to black.
Another color story comes home to roost. (With *gorgeous* results!)
How’s your week going??

Oh, one of THOSE days. I hear ya loud and clear — so hard not to turn to our comforts. I’ve added a calming nature shot as my desktop screensaver as some recent study showed even looking at outdoors-y things was good for one’s health!
[Strolling outside, even in bad weather, was even better.]
Thanks much for the mention of our work-in-progress; you know I enjoyed the pun!
[I have to say the ladder-clinging helped me forget work stress….]
love the picture!
Mussel is an interesting colour I saw it when I went to check out the Eileen fisher collection at Fenwick. Too hot still here in South of France to think about Autumn clothes.
I hope today is a better one.
I love your comment it started with a donut!
I am off to see what Imogen says about glasses, I’d love to replace mine.
Hope you find today less stressful. The color Mussel is intriguing to me; perfect for fall.
Forty-five emails – that might send me to the wine cellar mid-day! : > Hope today is smooth and low-stress. Love the links!
Dreadfully, have fallen out with 89 year old mum – oy.
You know donuts are the one baked good that I just don’t like the taste of. Oh and 45 emails? I don’t think I get that in a week.

I’m still reeling from the shock of being back at work after a lovely long summer holiday.
It’s a miserable day here third day of cold raw, rain. French Essance has a lovely picture of Grace Kelley wearing a suit that would be as fashionable today. it’s a on the street shot of her carring her dry cleaning or purchases.
The mussel color is lovely. (Do moules marinières come along with it? Oh, for some mussels from Brussels!)
Hope your week / weekend picks up.
Whew. Relax, dear Pseu and bon courage…love that colour- mussel, peat, whatever. And mussels and wine go so well together.
Isn’t it weird how it can go bad ALL DAY LONG? that’s when i wonder if it isnt in the stars somehow…
For me, I’m just in a creative semi-slump.
Thanks for the outsourcing! I know that feeling.
45 emails sounds painful. I hope today goes better for you Pseu.
I love the idea of being inspired by Barbie :-).
Mussel looks peaceful, like your Fall palette.
Hope your week gets better! A medicinal donut now and then never hurt anyone.
Yesterday at our house started with a leaking water heater and ended with an unexpected guinea pig burial. I’m trying to stay positive and tell myself that things can only improve!
I understand…..one of those days. I came home early, poured some wine and watched a movie about school children in a small community in France. For some reason, I feel better.
I hear you … hang in there.
That mussel colour is gorgeous.
Here’s hoping that Friday is a better day.
Yes, there are days when everything goes wrong from the very start.
Then there are days quite the opposite.
That´s life :)!
@Vix True there’s nothing like risking life and limb to bring one into the present moment. 🙂
@ilona Isn’t it fun?
@Chicatanyage We’ll also have some periods of pretty intense heat over the next few weeks, but today it’s cool enough for a lightweight sweater. I think the mussel color is a great neutral!
@hostess of the humble bungalow Thanks. Actually the rest of my week continued in that vein. And next week is already shaping up to be a busy one. Just the time of year.
@The Style Crone Thanks. Things eased up just a little by Friday afternoon, but we’re just going into our busy season at work. This week was just about too many things at once!
@Patti @ NotDeadYet Style Have a glass for me, would you? 😀
@Susan Tiner Yesterday was worse (81 new emails when I came in that morning) but things slowed down a bit later in the day. Mussel is a wonderful color, and yes, very peaceful.
@The Slowest Sewist Thanks. I picked a bad week to decide to curtail carbs and alcohol, I think! Oh dear, water heater on the fritz and a deceased pet…NOT a good day!
@Bourbon&Pearls Hope you’ve made up again by now. I don’t particularly like donuts either, but I’d skipped breakfast and they were the only food within miles at the time.
@That’s Not My Age Hope your adjustment to rentrée gets easier!
@cigalechanta I’m sorry your weather is so dreary. Maybe you can send some of that rain to Texas! I didn’t see that picture, but will definitely pop over there to check it out.
@BigLittleWolf Oh, moules marinières, I wish! The week continued in the same vein, but at least it’s the weekend now!
@Duchesse Merci! This color is really a good one, softer than black, but still a nice dark sophisticated neutral. I’m hungry for mussels and a nice Sancerre now!
@Coastal Harp A glass of wine and a movie set in France sounds like a wonderful remedy for a rough day.
@fashionoverfifty YES, it’s just like everything keeps taking a wrong turn! Hope you pull out of creative slump soon, but don’t worry, it happens to everyone.
@Imogen Lamport, AICI CIP That’s such a helpful video. I’m taking my color palette with me next time I go to pick out frames!
@Tiffany Thanks, and isn’t it though?
@Terri Thank you. By Friday afternoon things had settled a bit, what a relief!
@metscan Yes, that is indeed Life. September always hits like a speeding train where I work.
HI
My week is going…off to a rough start…I am back and blogging again. Can’t wait to catch up!!
