After a reasonably smooth and comfortable (though long) journey, we arrived at CDG, picked up our rental car (hybrid, yay!) and hit the road to our first stop, Versailles. I’ll do a recap later of our hotels, but I will say this one, the Trianon Palace is that perfect combination of old and new. Very comfortable and we had a truly splendid meal last night at the Veranda restaurant. The best part is the spectacular beauty of the grounds here. Here’s the road leading to the hotel… And our first glimpse of the main building… Refreshments… We enjoyed both breakfast this morning in The Veranda restaurant…also very good. View from our table… We’ll be hitting the road shortly, on our way toward the Loire Valley with some stops along the way…

Stunning!!! have fun! x
Versailles is such a lovely spot. I left La Belle France this morning and I am enjoying the free wifi in Edinburgh Airport. I hope you have good weather in the Loire Valley.
So pretty! Enjoy your day.
Wow, what else can I say? Have a great day exploring!

What a wonderful start to your trip. We have stayed at the Trianon several times and it is a real treat to stroll the grounds of Versailles early morning before the crowds. Were you able to see the animals? Bonne route!
So kind of you to take the time to post along your journey. Its fabulous to see.
How is the wardrobe working so far?
How beautiful. I’ll be interested in seeing how you do recharging your car in France. In Amsterdam they have electric “filling stations” at the side of roads, and the driver carries a huge plug about in the car.
Oh, yeah, this is going to make it easier to go to my boring job in rainy old Oregon. 😉
Glad you arrived safely and are so beautifully ensconced!
You’re off to a wonderful start! Thanks for thinking of us and posting so quickly.
Please keep the pictures coming — I’m traveling vicariously through you. I hope someday to be able to afford such luxuries. Enjoy!
Oh how lovely – hope you’re having fun!
That is a very good chose you made. The hotel is perfekt. The rooms, the restaurant and the breakfast it is like a dream. It makes you feel a very special person. Altough I live only a 30 minutes drive from le chateau de Versailles and this lovely hotel I stayed there once. It was a great experience. Enjoy your holiday!
I love how cozy and intimate it looks…thanks for sharing!
How lovely. I’m so glad you able to blog while you are on the road.
We visited the Loire in 2010 and had a wonderful time. Which chateaux will you be visiting?
I have just spent 3 nights at the Trianon de Versailles. Versailles was such a lovely town
