SUI: Online

LA Times:

“People definitely do it all the time,” says Shopbop spokeswoman, Alle Fister. “It’s click, click, click after a few cocktails.”

Actually, une femme is less susceptible to SUI (Shopping Under the Influence) than SWB (Shopping While Bored). It’s those SWB hangovers that I wake up to and find myself buried under boxes of floral skirts, a half-dozen lipglosses, overpriced leopard print sneakers, and the same pair of jeans in four different washes. Thank Heavens for liberal return policies and pre-printed shipping labels!

  1. Luckily, I haven’t yet been tempted to shop online for anything other than books. I know I’d never be organized enough to return items in a timely enough fashion. But it does look like fun when I watch you and so many other bloggers indulge.

  2. I’ve given up any sort of on-line shopping, except books, the disappointment to happiness ratio was just too high.

  3. I know now when I’m bored, burned out or unhappy at work – the amazon.com boxes bearing things that actually interest me start to arrive….

    We are not alone.

  4. My SUI days are over. I hope! But, SWB can occur almost daily. SWD is another one–Shopping While Depressed. Cheering myself up with clothing never works and yet I have tried to do it many times.

  5. Aaaand, SWPO, Shopping While Pissed Off (versus just pissed).

One of my GFs says a way to cope is if SU/I or D: limit yourself to cosmetics. But you can still make a Serious Visa Dent.(SVD)
