Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. That long weekend allows time for extended visits and multiple, relaxed gatherings. Whether you’re traveling or hosting at home, here are a couple of “Festive, Not Fussy” Thanksgiving outfit ideas.

Many thanks to Halsbrook for their partnership on this post. All ideas and opinions are my own.

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas: A Floral Dress

I’m often asked for outfit ideas that feature dresses, and when I saw this one, I knew it would make a great outfit focal point. It’s shaped, but with some ease, and the midi length is easy to wear. I styled with some simple gold jewelry with blue accents to pick up the blue in the print, and a burgundy bag. I added an outerwear option in navy. Don’t worry if the dress is longer than the coat; it’s fine especially a less structured style like this one.

Halsbrook has a fabulous selection of dresses for holiday, career and casual wear. And they’re having a Gift Card event on new season styles. Spend $250, get $25, spend $500, get $75…all the way up to $400 with a $2000 purchase. Use code MERRY2019 Offer good through November 16.

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas: Coordinated Separates

I envisioned this outfit as something you could wear for the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend: for football and leftovers, or a casual brunch. Swap out the booties for a sturdier pair and you’d be ready to go help pick out the Christmas tree, or take a walk in the woods (or just to the local coffee shop). You could swap the accessories from one outfit to the other for variety, or wear in different combinations. (If the sweater is too warm, you could substitute a printed blouse.)

I just love the simplicity of that bag. It’s one you could dress up or down, and comes with a matching zipped pouch.

If you haven’t shopped at Halsbrook yet, you’re in for a treat. With a well-curated collection of pieces from quality basics to special occasion styles, they’re like having a favorite neighborhood boutique online. Need some holiday gift ideas? 1. Some good ideas here! Thank you. I can use them for inspiration while shopping at less high-end retailers. The Halsbrook items…dress, coat, bag, earrings and bracelet would total over $2,000. I’m not ashamed to admit that it’s way out of my price range for one outfit.

      1. Agree as much as I like many of the ideas on this site, most of it is out of my price range. Can usually find the same look for much better prices. And unfortunately today the quality of clothing has gone so downhill…it is really sad.

  2. That bag! Gorgeous, pricey, ageless. Thanks for the balanced sponsored posts in all price ranges, we can dream and get inspiration, even if we can’t spend that kind of $$. Some of the sale items at Holbrook were great pricing though.

  3. Love these options for a guest but those of us who are cooking need washable, simple, short sleeves and comfy shoes!

    1. I don’t really wear short sleeves after the pleasant part of autumn; if cooking I wear old knit tops with sleeves I can roll up. Unless we are in full bread-baking mode, it is too cold here to wear short sleeves in November. Not that we celebrate much of anything in November. I’d change out of my hardcore cooking clothes to greet the guests, but I absolutely refuse to wear anything other than comfy shoes. My favourites are Winona Doc Martens Mary Janes with wonderful supportive soles.I have rosy red ones on now.

  4. The dress is perfect and I love the idea of deeper-toned florals, but at $429.00 it is not reasonable purchase for most people for a Thanksgiving Day dinner, or even to wear several times thereafter. Shoshana is a wonderful designer (label), however.

    1. I should have added, I enjoy seeing your choices, but for this one, I would also love seeing a less pricey alternative, as you do show often.

      1. Hi Susan, I’ll be doing more holiday outfit posts, including more budget-friendly options. In this case, I partnered with Halsbrook so featured items on their website that were eligible for the gift card. They do have several dresses on sale at very reasonable prices HERE.

  5. Love these options. I would have never considered that striped sweater but I love it with those pants. Thank you for fine-tuning my eye.

  6. Those Demellier bags are in my feeds constantly. I adore this shape and size but if there is something I do not need, it is a bag. But someday I will succumb, I know. Especially the white croco print has my love. Lucky for my wallet it has disappeared from the shop. Probably because it is a summer colour.

    1. The bag is extremely attractive, but I don’t carry bags without shoulder or crossbody straps. They hurt my hands if I’m walking a significant distance. I always carry something like a Healthy Back Bag, in technical nylon or polyester. They have very pretty colours, and don’t look inappropriate in professional settings (if I’m doing conference interpretation; I work mostly in my home office nowadays.)

  7. I am disappointed to see that halsbrook carries real fur. I clicked through the link to accessories and it was a trim.

    1. Yes, many retailers still include fur items. I’m glad the major design houses are moving away from it, and hope it carries through to the entire industry.
