Twisted at the office... - une femme d'un certain âge

Twisted at the office…

(This is my very first attempt at Polyvore on the Floor, so please bear with me!)

Here’s my first classic-with-a-twist ensemble incorporating my new Fluevog shoes.  I’m rather pleased!

And here’s the “live” ensemble:

Wore the new shoes all day today and did errands at lunchtime that required some walking.  Even so, I came home and didn’t feel the need to take them off until I was ready to start my above artistic endeavor.  Two thumbs up for these shoes!!

Navy jacket and coral tee – Talbots
Jeans – Gap Edition
Shoes – Fluevog
Bag – YSL
Watch – MICHAEL Michael Kors
Scarf – can’t remember brand, purchased at Bloomingdales.

You are having so much fun with those orange shoes! And isn’t it wonderful that you can wear this to work? I don’t mind that I’m dating myself- in my early career we would have given anything to show up in this.

I’m always a bit worried that orange and black reads “Halloween” on me, but sometimes do it anyway.

Imogen – thanks! I know they break the rule about shoes the same color as trousers, but sometimes it’s worth it…
    😉

Duchesse – thank you! I struggled with Business Casual for a long time, but feel as though I’m finally comfortable with it, and able to feel put together enough to be professional while expressing a bit of my own style. Although the jacket looks black, it’s actually a dark navy. My Halloween associations are probably too strong to wear these shoes with anything black.

    Beautiful outfit! Great lines!

Perfectly played, Pseu! The epitome of Twisted Classic. And they really are comfortable, aren’t they!

  5. April 14, 2010 / 2:33 pm

I love the concept of Polyvore on the floor.

  6. April 14, 2010 / 3:08 pm

Really like how the the shoes liven up the leopard (yes, who knew leopard could ever be a bit staid, ha?); what a great pairing.

You’re really wading in fearlessly to classic-with-a-twist…are ya having loads of fun? Hope so!

You look great! Really great! May we all be able to nail down our own respective styles as flawlessly.

That polyvore on the floor is wonderful…I could wear that grouping and feel good….but I’d need to buy those fabulous shoes…they really are a defining pair in orange…how much fun are you having?

  9. April 14, 2010 / 4:24 pm

Those shoes ratchet this up just the required notch. And I love Polyvore On The Floor too.

  13. April 14, 2010 / 7:22 pm

Polyvore on the floor, I love that!
And I adore that entire outfit. It is just twisted enough.

I wasn’t sure about the shoes but I love them with the rest of the outfit, very sharp. Viva la orange!

Don’t wear that scarf to our luncheon or I will steal it right off your neck. Can’t say I didn’t warn you! ;-)Love the outfits this twisting has inspired.

Brava, Pseu! Great look in both two and three dimensions. (And “polyvore on the floor” — it even rhymes, hee!)

  22. April 15, 2010 / 1:21 am

    Cindy Kay – thank you!

Vix – thanks, and yes I’m having a blast! Funny about the leopard print, what once felt so transgressive is now “classic!”

aaonce – thanks so much! It really helps to have one or two special pieces to build the ensemble around.

LBR – this scarf is definitely a new fave. It’s very lightweight rayon. (psst, you can probably still find at Bloomies…)

  23. April 15, 2010 / 1:24 am

hostess of the humble bungalow – thanks, creating the PotF was really fun! These shoes are definite outfit makers.

    LPC – thanks so much!

    monalisa – merci beaucoup!

Miss Janey – thank you so much. I’m really getting enthused about this “twisted” angle.

  24. April 15, 2010 / 1:27 am

    Sal – thanks!

    Lulu – thank you.

Belle – thanks! Yes, it feels serious enough for work, but fun enough for me.

    metscan – thanks so much!

  25. April 15, 2010 / 1:29 am

Kathy – thank you! I think I’m starting to get the hang of this concept… 😉

    Special – thanks!

Tiffany – thank you. It’s now one of my favorites too. I’m starting to think orange might be a neutral for me.

    Marieanne – thanks so much!

  26. April 15, 2010 / 1:32 am

Rubiatonta – thank you! I think Karen’s blog was where I first heard the term. I’ll definitely be doing more of these; they’re a great way to get an objective view of how pieces work together.

audball – thanks so much, you are too kind! Guess I’m going to have to lock these up at night…
    😉

Wendy: I coined the phrase Polyvore on the Floor, baby, and I want credit for it!

  32. April 15, 2010 / 1:47 pm

I like the outfit even more today.

I really love the shapes you’ve created as I think it really shows off your long legs, very nice long taper from your shoulders to your shoes.

  33. April 15, 2010 / 1:51 pm

Karen – thanks! It’s to your credit that I started wearing that navy jacket. It’s really a workhorse!

    Special – thanks so much!

    Mobile – thank you.

  34. April 15, 2010 / 6:05 pm

Beautiful outfit, classic with the right amount of fun.

  35. April 15, 2010 / 7:00 pm

  36. April 15, 2010 / 8:35 pm

Semi Expat – thank you. I really like this combo too.

BonjourRomance – merci beaucoup! Yes, the shoes are quite comfortable, probably one of the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever had on. More Polyvores on the Floor to come soon!

  40. April 16, 2010 / 1:22 pm

Are you chic or what? Fab-u-lous look. Really, really do like your hair cut and color as I said before, but every time I see it again I’m even more convinced.

    Your shoes ARE great.

t is so hard to form an impression of your outfit as you cover your face. The eyes are the window to the sole you know and it is impossible to see if this vision and coloring suits you. What a lost opportunity, don’t u agree?

  43. April 17, 2010 / 1:56 am

Tracey – unfortunately I don’t have a photographer on staff 😉 so the mirror shots are the only way I have to capture my own image. I’ve had buying a tripod and learning to use my camera’s timing function on my “to do” list forever, will really have to get on it.
