Yes, I know it’s not cheap and it has cap sleeves, but this is one of the most flattering tees I’ve ever tried on. Right now Nordstrom has this Eileen Fisher silk jersey tee available in several colors, which is a rarity for Eileen Fisher basic pieces.

For those who love their neutrals, the Cobblestone and Smoke are dark and light versions of a warm taupe that goes with just about anything. Surplus is a neutral dark olive and for a bit more color Light Balsam (shown above) is a slightly blueish pine green. The tee is available in a few other colors I haven’t seen, and yes, black and soft white. The fabric is extremely light and excellent for layering, but cut in a way that it doesn’t cling where we don’t want it to.  The scoop neck is low enough to be flattering, but high enough to be entirely work-appropriate.

These tees can be hand washed, and hung to dry overnight, making them an excellent choice for travel too. Give this one a try; it’s a fabulous, season-spanning piece.

  1. Wonderful tees for all the reasons you point out. It’s so hard to get these colours in anything cheaper. I find that cost per wear justifies them, and rely on Gap for basic black and white.

Watch the necklaces on silk jersey, pearls are best b/c they do not snag 😉

  2. I’m going to have to try one of these on when i visit my mother. No EF or Nordies in my area. I notice that some colors are sold out! I hope EF and Nordies appreciate you.

  3. Hello:
Available in black and white, then consider this sold! It looks to be the most versatile of pieces and surely will be a staple for years to come. The fabric sounds perfect!

  4. I hope your other readers didn’t wipe out the supply. I’m definitely going to check these out. I’m *so* tired of T-shirts that are see-through, baggy, shapeless, or too low-cut. EF’s stuff always drapes well and flatters me. Thanks for the rec!

  5. I want to echo the “cost per wear” comment. I have several of these and they are great. Don’t tell Eileen, but I wash them on delicate in my machine and hang to dry.

  6. Like the idea of them not clinging in the wrong places!! also the colours seem so right for whatever your style is. Ida
