Some good finds from London…

What I found while shopping in London: wearing a Bruno Manetti reversible sweater jacket, Strenesse brown pants and Clergerie booties.

Though I didn’t see much in Paris that tempted me, I had better luck in London. Thanks to some targeted shopping, I came away with a few outstanding additions to my wardrobe.

My London shopping finds…

Manina and Rachel from Red Leopard had scoped out some fantastic pieces in my colors at Claudia Sebire.

This sweater jacket above is from Bruno Manetti. It might initially look similar to the Weekend Max Mara jacket I wore here but it’s much lighter weight and more fitted. I’ll be able to wear this for several months out of the year in Southern California.

And that bright coral is one of my best colors! (It’s available in more colors HERE.) I’m wearing IT size 40 (US size 4).

See my reaction here when I first tried it on 😂

The brown pants are a German brand, Strenesse. They fit well and are very comfortable!

Susan B. wears a Bruno Manetti sweater jacket, Samsoe Samsoe blouse and J.Crew jeans.

This sweater jacket is also reversible. Here I’ve styled the reverse side with a polka dot top (originally worn HERE) and off-white jeans (similar).

(Here’s a similar style jacket at a more budget-friendly price. And one from Eileen Fisher.)

Detail: Susan B. wears Clergerie platform booties.

Carrie may have her Manolos, but my shoe obsession is Clergerie. They just find that perfect marriage of comfortable and funky. I know these boots aren’t everyone’s cup of Darjeeling style-wise, but I LOVE them! 😍

  1. Lucky you, Susan! While living in London for 10 years, our flat was just down the road from Claudia Sebire. Twelve years later and back in the States, I still have several wonderful pieces I purchased there. Oh, how I miss that shop!

  2. This jacket is lovely. Red leopard did a very good job and I’m super impressed with the care and consideration that is evident in their work.

I’ve been watching along to see what they came up with because I want to better apply same type of disciplined thought and selection to my own choices. My goal is not to have a precise color palette or to have shopping sprees with image consultants. It’s to achieve sustainably in my own wardrobe by keeping it pared down – not letting new things in that are not needed and will not serve me well. I’d to follow blogs more to think about how to approach dressing verses as shopping sites.

  3. I love both sides. Thst is a great piece! Lucky you!I don’t like heavy boots but they look good. Pants look comfortable and perfect with that jacket.

  4. That looks like such fun to shop with the Red Leopard ladies. No second guessing and wasted time. I love your happy dance and all that your picked up, well, maybe not the footwear for my feminine style. haha Those are the things that make us all unique.

  5. Your shopping was an amazing success. This is a perfect reversible piece and everything you have showed us compliments your wardrobe beautifully. I have been so inspired by your choices!

  6. As covetable as the Max Mara jacket is, in the video it appears to have swallowed Susan’s petite body. The jacket offered by the Red Lion group has a far better fit for our little gamine. Closer to the body and less volume. With the Max Mara the palette was en point but the style would best suit a taller more feminine/classic body. I had my suspicions about the MM jacket but it looked lovely in the stills. IRL tells a different story. In the end it pays to have a stylist occasionally wade in with suggested garments. That second jacket is a winner!!
My only concern is the ‘sameness’ of the wardrobe with emphasis on brown, beige, coral etc. It would be nice to see Susan move around her palette more, introducing some of the blues or greens.( not jeans!) BTW….the boots are stunning!!

    1. Hi AINSIVALAVIE, thanks! I’d intended to wear the MM jacket more as an overcoat (so like having room to be able to layer up underneath). Today’s jacket is definitely more of an indoor-outdoor piece.

And I’d love to add more of “my” greens and blues, but they just haven’t been very available other than sweaters. I’m ever hopeful and keeping my eyes open, though!

  7. Love that CS jacket on you. It’s perfection. It made me realize that I have two reversible double-faced wool jackets, one that’s black/burgundy and the other in red/pink. I haven’t worn them in years but I’m pulling them out to see how I can style them in a casual way. Thanks for sharing how you style them.

  8. Oh you did so, so well. I love your new items and you can combine them in so many ways. i am envious of that. My stuff is usually hard to combine otherwise (or I just don’t have the styling talent to see it). That bright coral jacket is indeed so you and so your colour, I can understand you did a happy dance. I would have done so too. Fun video by the way. I would love to do the same as you have done. Go shopping with those fantastic ladies, but they have chosen items/shops that I cannot afford. Or perhaps one piece and that would be foolish. Never mind, you got great things and I am happy for you. Love how you put that coral polka dot top underneath the reversed jacket.
And your Clergerie boots? You can count me a fan. LOVE them. The orange line!

    1. Thanks so much, Greetje! I think there was about two years’ worth of shopping compressed into one trip, and now MY credit card is in the freezer, LOL!

  9. That Manetti jacket is fantastic! The fact that it’s reversible is the cherry on top. I agree with AinsiLaVie regarding the proportions of the Max Mara – this one is more fitted and the narrower sleeves make it feel more tailored and suitable to your size. Looks fantastic with that polka dot shirt; I think the thing I love most about that is that the dots are irregular, so they don’t have any of that ‘matronly’ look. I have adored Clergerie since I was a student in France far longer ago than I care to believe, but I’m not a fan of this particular pair. I appreciate them aesthetically – that multi-toned sole IS fabulous – but they don’t look particularly comfortable and I don’t care for the proportion of sole to upper. That said, chacun a son gout, and I’m delighted that you’re thrilled with them. I’m also quite liking the colored pants and trousers in lieu of jeans. Not that I don’t love my jeans, but these feels more casually polished, if that makes sense.
