A Festive Casual Holiday Look for Warm Weather

Many of you have mentioned that you live in warmer climates or simply find sweaters and layers too warm indoors. If you’ve been looking for holiday outfits that feel festive without making you overheat, this one’s for you. Here’s a light, Festive Casual look with just enough sparkle…no heavy layers required.

Why a Sparkly Shirt Works for Warm Weather Holiday Style

Susan B. wears a sparkly brown poplin shirt, brown silk tank, barrel jeans, brown pointed toe flats.

My sizes: Shirt – XS, Tank – Small, Jeans – 8 Petite

Sometimes a little sparkle is all you need! This 100% cotton poplin shirt, embellished with tiny crystals, is perfect for a Festive-Not-Fussy holiday outfit, especially if you live in a warm climate or tend to run warm indoors. (And it’s currently 40% off with code LETSGO.)

One thing I love about button-front shirts like this is how versatile they are. They can be worn buttoned, or left open as a lightweight “third piece” in place of a heavier sweater or jacket. I’ve styled this one over a washable silk tank and added a few favorite sparkly French Kande pieces from my collection.

I wear these Ruti barrel jeans multiple times per week, and I’m especially partial to this dark wash as it dresses up or down so easily. My shoes are Tibi from a prior season; I’ve linked a similar current style that’s also on sale.

I love the subtle sparkle which makes this top wearable year-round (when the weather permits). And yes, it’s washable! It runs large, so I suggest sizing down. This deep brown works beautifully for Springs and Autumns, but I’ve linked more colors and styles below for you Summers and Winters.

If you love a festive touch but prefer to stay cool and comfortable, a sparkly lightweight shirt is such an easy solution. It adds just the right amount of holiday flair without the bulk. I’ve linked more options below, so you can find the color and style that works best for you.

  1. You found yourself a beauty of a a shirt with those chrystals. Perfect for a petite. I can only dream of warmer weather. Layering thick tights underneath my jeans these days and several sweaters on top. So cold.

  2. Thanks, Susan. I especially like the silver blouse. Wearing a blouse as a jacket is a nice idea for a lightweight layered look. I find most homes, stores, theaters, etc. to be overheated, especially in places with cold climates! By the way, are you intending to have little video inset and running over your content? That is happening lately.

  3. Love the top and the accessories. IMO the jeans detract from the look. Theat classy, elevated top cries out for a sleek trouser jean or even a slim boot-cut. The baggy looking barrel jean looks a bit sloppy. You are lovely as usual, though!

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I love my barrel jeans, and find a looser fitting jean is more comfortable in warm weather, but everyone should wear what makes them feel most comfortable and confident!

  4. I love your choices! I think you are a “ gamine”, so am I. Could you discuss gamine options for a grown woman? I have been analyzed as a bright/ sprinter winter . My bright clothes are alarming some of my friends 😂 as are the cropped jackets, and shorter skirt / with tights! Thanks

  5. I’m one of the people this post is meant for! I’m in the Houston area, and it COULD be cold over the holidays, or it COULD be in the 80s! I just bought that red plaid popover blouse from Talbots for warm-day holiday occasions. Haven’t worn it yet but it’s very cute, I think! Will look good with jeans or with black pants.
