  1. Enjoyed looking at these sale items, thanks! For me, the main thing I’m looking for at the moment is washability/easy care. I have my “outside” clothes and my “inside” clothes. When I come in the house, I take off my outside clothes (including my DIY face mask) and put them right in the washing machine, shower and put on my inside clothes. I’m laundering everything more frequently and have put any delicate care or dry clean only items to the side for now. My casual wardrobe is getting a workout and will need to be replaced after this.

    1. I had bought a whole new wardrobe of clothes over our summer (October – January in Australia), some to take on my now cancelled holiday in May. Sadly, most of the outfits sit unworn, as, as like you, I have outside clothes to wear to the shops etc during the coronavirus. They are getting a beating being washed more regularly than usual. Our winter is approaching and I have no interest in buying anything new to wear, but will stick to what I have in the wardrobe. Luckily our local pharmacy have boxes of N95 masks for sale, so I stocked up on them – one less thing to wash.

  2. I ordered those Talbot’s lightweight joggers with the side stripe. On me, they were awfully unflattering, with a saggy looking rear. Made me look twenty pounds heavier. Now I am stumped on returning them as I don’t want to go to the post office. I know we are talking mostly fashion here which I enjoy, but I will be more cautious about ordering for the duration.

    1. Hi Penelope, I don’t know where you live or how your post office is configured, but ours has set up a drop bin for packages and props the lobby door open so you don’t have to touch anything. I go before the service windows are open, and there’s usually nobody else there. Sorry those didn’t work out for you.

      1. Thank you for your reply, Susan. I am not sure what the situation is at our post offices( Marin County, Northern California) but perhaps you have given me the courage to find out and try a return. Every time I venture out, I feel so anxious as if I am going into battle. So far I have only gone shopping for groceries at the local independent grocery nearby.

        1. Penelope,

You should be able to buy your postage online on the USPS website, then drop the package off at the drop box at the post office. You put in the type and weight of your package, then print out the label.

          1. And a lot of retailers have an online return process that allows you to print a shipping label (many offering free returns right now).

  3. Susan, veering off topic, would you mind updating us on your 2020 vision? So many of us had special landmark anniversary or birthday celebrations on the agenda, etc. How are you moving forward without a plan for now? Even fitness seems out of reach. Shopping for clothes? Not for me, with so much uncertainty, including weight! Grocery shopping takes all the energy I have.

  4. Susan, I love the utility pant from Chico’s. Can you tell me how it fits? I don’t want the leg too tight and the size indicated on their chart is 8 but I’m worried the waist will fit but the legs will be tight. You look great in yours, how did you find the sizing?

    1. Hi Joyce, I found they run true-to-Chico’s-size. 😉 I’m usually a Chico’s 0P, which corresponds to size 4/6P. I didn’t find the legs to be tight, and I have somewhat muscular legs.

  5. Hi! I just want to thank you for continuing to post during this lockdown. It’s so nice to have something to look forward to.

Then there is my question. Why do you refer to those pants as Utility Pants? For me, Utility Pants are the ones that have multiple deep pockets down the legs–you know, to store things in, like military fatigues. Am I missing something?

    1. Hi Garden Goddess, that’s how they’re referred to on the retailer’s website, so I’m just going with their description. 😉

  6. I need help in matching white and ivory. I often see pictures of what appears to be a white top under ivory jacket or sweater. Can you wear ivory and white together? for instance, as a Floridian I have a lot of white pants – can I wear an ivory sweater with them?

    1. I’ll respond with a qualified Yes. I think it depends on your coloring, and the color of the white and ivory pieces in question. A softer, more neutral ivory and winter white will be easier to pair than a very yellow ivory and stark (“optic”) white. I think a tonal look that pairs similar-but-not-the-same shades can look very chic!
