France, the US and many other places are being overtaken by a monolithic corporate culture of “ready meals”, identical clothing shops and cheap goods from China – and countries in South and Southeast Asia with even lower wages and labour standards.
Enjoy your farmers’ market. Mine is very close; I shop there several times a week, buying little at a time. You’ve seen many photo spreads by la Duchesse on marché Jean-Talon.
