This heat wave probably has many of us dreaming of a dip in the ocean. Even though our little corner of Southern California has been spared the worst of it, a walk on the beach sounds pretty inviting right now. Inspired by sea greens & blues, here are a few things on my radar this week…
Earrings are one of the most comfortable accessories to wear in the heat. These summery abalone shell earrings have a graceful shape and unique iridescent colors.
This breezy organic linen-cotton jersey top is gorgeous in aqua, but the “light coast” color is also soothing (and a good choice for you Summers…)

When the weather warms up, I like to switch to a lighter, fresher fragrance. I retrieved a bottle of Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Nil from my stash a few days ago, and have been wearing it daily. The citrus (grapefruit) top note just makes me happy every time I catch a whiff of it. Nothing heavy or cloying about this one.
I liked the Biossance products I was gifted so much I decided to order a couple more to try. One was this Squalene + Magnesium deodorant. (Aluminum in deodorants/antiperspirants irritates my skin, so I avoid it.) I’ve found very few natural deodorants that are effective at preventing odor for more than a few hours, but this one really works!
(Remember to use code UNEFEMME20 for 20% off sitewide!)
Go ahead and wade in the creek, run in the sprinklers, work in the garden. These cute colorblock sandals will dry in a jiffy. (This color combo seems to have limited size availability…here’s a similar one.)
How are you staying cool this week?
Those earrings are just my style, and I love them. When you mentioned the top for summers, and the tease about learning the colours typing, does that mean that you will also be doing the personalities as well, That sounds so interesting and sounds like there are many waiting for you to start. I have wanted to learn this as well, and in 2019 started looking into it, but the pandemic put a stop to all that for now and I wondered how long it will take to learn all the intricacies of the process. I do not have a painters eye and wonder about all the fine details.

Hi Diane, yes I’m hoping to train on both color and style personalities later this year. It’s still tentative depending on travel restrictions, but…fingers crossed!!
That is fantastic. Get that training and teach us. I’ve come to trust your instincts so I’ll bet you will be so good at this.
I love the shoes. I need shoes that can get wet because we have a lot of rain this time of year and it gets wet to take the trash out, go to mailbox, or run to corner store. Cute and practical. Perfect local run around shoe.

Hi Eve, here’s the same style in a very similar color: https://bit.ly/3jpQJSh
Susan. in jest I write that I wish I had not found your blog because I find excellent products despite wanting to discontinue retail therapy…today Biossance.
I admire your feet! My face was never my fortune but I did have pretty hands and feet so that is what I most dislike about changes with age despite appreciating their ability to function well. I would appreciate some suggestions, in addition to Sole Bliss, for shoes or sandals or some other summery footwear whiich would hide bunions and hammertoes.
For a casual sandal, try Mephisto Helen…it works for me…
Salut, Susan, Thank you for all of your posts. I truly enjoy them. I love the scent of grapefruit so I clicked on your link, “Jardin sur le Nil.” It came up on Wallmart’s site, but it was called “Un Jardin sur le Toit.” I’m sure that I can search for it elsewhere, but I thought that was odd! On the roof, on the Nile. I like both names, really, but I’m not sure that Hermes would have one called “on the roof.” What do you think? Merci! Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, sorry about the glitch. I’ve corrected the link in the post, here’s Jardin Sur le Nil: https://bit.ly/3y7eti5
I LOVE that linen tee. And, another color that’s looks like it would great for Summers is the Aegean. And we can’t usually wear greens very well:).
That EF tee is such a pretty color! Is it in your pallet?

Hi Kay, thanks, and indeed it is!
I’m catching up on my blog reading and was surprised and delighted to see you mention Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. Like you, I recently came across this in my stash. I’ve had a bottle on hand (not the same one!) since it first came out but hadn’t worn it in years. Just this weekend, I spritzed it and so enjoyed the scent. It’s really perfect for summer: bright and refreshing yet with a bigger, smoother presence than many summer perfumes. Glad to know you’re enjoying it, too. And these blues! I’m a soft summer (that’s where my silly online name, below, comes from–plus my real name) and blues are my sweet spot. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I’m particularly intrigued by the deodorant (always looking for a decent natural one)–I’m off to see if it contains baking soda, which I can’t tolerate. Fingers crossed.
