Great idea for a post…shopping as a gamine seems so much harder…
I am not a classic dresser but sometimes buy basics from these brands which offer good quality indeed. I know the price points may be a bit high for some but I appreciate that you are not promoting fast fashion. I would include Eileen Fisher in this list.
The J Crew vintage v-neck camel stripe t -shirt that you showed awhile back was delivered and it’s perfect …coordinates well with the White Stuff pieces bought a couple of years ago.
I found a surprise in the bag too…a size 6 reversible tan and black swimsuit…not for this trim 74 year old …perhaps in my sexy thirties!
Someone is missing their purchase so I’m in touch with J Crew.
I did have a laugh though.
Thank you for this wonderful post with some excellent sources for those of us who prefer the classic wardrobe style.
Great stuff! Thank you, Susan.
I wish there were more brands that offered classic petite clothing … sigh.
Great resource, thank you! I love Talbots and also have some nice items from Ann Taylor. I’ve not looked much at J Crew as I am not really preppy. I do love a classic look, but I need a feminine touch added to it. I’m with Maeve, I wish there were more companies that offered options for petites.
As a classic I am familiar with some of these stores but not M M Lafleur or Me and Em so I look forward to checking them out. Knowing what style you are makes things so much easier! Thanks!
I love classic styles and have pieces in my wardrobe from many of the brands you listed. My favorite go to for classic styles is J.McLaughlin. The have a great web site and many stores. They always have basics in navy and have some great fabrics that are wonderfully for travel. They do not offer a petite range, so for some that could be problematic but their website is worth looking at for those looking for great classic clothing and accessories!
