Monday miscellany: multi-tasking joggers & more…

Susan B. wears a lemon print stripe sweater, navy joggers and sneakers. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

A casual jogger pants outfit

I originally purchased these joggers a few weeks ago because I needed a warmer pair of workout pants. They’re aces for that, but also polished enough that I’ve been able to work them into casual outfits.

What I love most about these is that there’s no drawstring. So I’m not stuck between having to half-tuck tops or having that weird bump in the front. That makes them a lot more versatile, IMO.

Because I know you’ll ask, 😉 these are warmer than the Athleta Brooklyn Pants I showed you earlier this month, and have a more matte finish (plus the cuffed ankles). This particular style from Beyond Yoga is sold out in the navy, but here’s a very similar (and very budget-friendly) style

The sweater and sneakers are both from a few seasons back. I’ve linked to some similar styles above.

Here are a few more styles of women’s joggers without drawstrings:

Note: some of you have mentioned that you’d prefer a longer style. These from Athleta are very similar to what I’m wearing. They’re available in a Tall length, with a 29.5″ inseam.

There’s still time…

Must-see TV…

My favorite French series is back! Call My Agent (Dix pour cent) Season 4 will be on Netflix 1/21.

  1. What a cheery outfit to wake up to wake up to on a January morning! Those joggers look very perfect, I think the higher waist would work for me and I agree with your point about no drawstring. I’ll have to take a look at Beyond Yoga. I’m similar in size to you and have had trouble finding joggers that work. Lulu, Gap and Athleta all got returned. I also like that Beyond Yoga works on being sustainable. I have Cuyana joggers on order, I got a pair but think I need to size up from what I bought. Do you know the brand? I’m new to it and am very happy with what I’ve bought so far. I was familiar with their leather but not their clothing. Enjoy your Monday!!

    1. Hi Sueanne, I am a huge fan of Cuyana t-shirts, sleep wear and joggers. Just updated my stash with a wide leg and the pointe version plus the Alpaca sweater for a nice cozy cover-up. All great quality and ethical standards. Big fan of the bags too.

      1. Hi Joyce, Happy to hear you’re also a Cuyana fan! Their Alpaca sweater sounds so cozy perfect! Any recommendations for similiar pricing/quality/ethical standards to Cuyana?

  2. I was all ready to order these but further investigation revealed the inseam on a medium would be 27 1/2 inches which is too short for me even though I’m only 5’5 1/2. “ I can’t understand why in the last few years manufacturers have shrunk their pants lengths so universally.

    1. I agree. Everyone seems to think we all want all our pants to hit above the ankle. As a Midwesterner who owns several pairs of booties, it’s too cold for that now.

      1. A 29.5″ inseam still isn’t very long. Look how high they are on the model. The only cuffed pants I’ve ever been able to wear are some I sewed up myself. I wish they would offer a 32″ inseam.

  3. Very cheerful looking outfit, Susan! Also interesting that you need warmer pants in California. Here in snowy, cold SW Ontario Canada, I would like a pair of slim fitting pull-on pants lined with fleece for daily long walks. We’re in lockdown here, but can go outside for exercise.
I know you miss Paris and I thought of you when I saw this card game called Iconic Paris Card Game from a company called Cinq Points. I don’t have this game, so can’t report on it.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth! Yes, it can actually get quite chilly here in the nights and mornings. I’ll take a look at that card game, sounds interesting.

  4. Love lemons! Cutest top. Seems like I remember this top from another post but could have been another blogger. I like the way susanaftersixty starting putting three price suggestions, I know that’s a lot of trouble but it is so helpful. Champagne taste, beer budget here. I do check to see if stores, especially Chico’s ever puts those cute animal graphic sweaters on sale. The leopards camel sweater and the orange red print shirt were two particular favorites.

  5. I just purchased a couple of pairs of joggers, a Splendid pair of pajama pants with a velvet side stripe that’s very casual for at home from Nordstrom, and the Performance joggers from Banana Republic. I am tired of black and navy so chose an olive green for both. They combine well with a chambray shirt, off white pullover and pink casual tops. The pandemic has me re-thinking my stay-at-home wardrobe just to fend off boredom!

  6. Are the joggers pretty true to size? I’m pretty much a shorter version of you. I’m wondering if they will be too long and messy looking. Joggers don’t hem too well.

  7. Thanks as always for your tips… Especially about the joggers! And I totally agree with your taste in French television series! My all-time favorite was A French Village, but I have also loved Spiral, Murder in… (set in various scenic regions in France), and Call my agent! Perfect when we’re locked in with the pandemic! Thanks

  8. Thanks, have some joggers from Athleta but, living here in NE, what about socks?! We can’t really walk around without socks.

  9. Susan, many months ago on your blog you reviewed mineral sunblocks and mentioned that you use one by Elta MD. I’ve purchased one on recommendation from my dermatologist and find that it dulls my skin. Do you layer foundation and/or moisturizer under or over it? Which of the Elta products do you use? Your skin always looks radiant so I’m hoping you can help! Thanks.
