The shoes that will add oomph to your look every time…

Metallics are one of spring’s big fashion trends, but I’ve been a big fan of metallic footwear for some years now. There’s a great selection of metallic shoes for women this season. Here are some of my long-time favorites and new season picks.

Cute & comfortable metallic shoes & sandals for women

Metallic shoes or sandals not only add a point of interest to your outfit, but are surprisingly versatile. I find they go with just about everything in my wardrobe. Footwear is a great way to incorporate metallic finishes in small doses, and in a way that won’t look dated in a few seasons.

Closed-toe styles

If you love a simple, sleek sneaker but are looking for an alternative to white, these are available in both gold and silver. They run true-to-size and have good support.

Here’s a slip-on style with the same footbed in a pewter metallic.

These ballet flats would look just as great with jeans as with a spring party dress. And those mesh sides allow for air flow to keep your feet cooler.

Here’s another very comfortable flat that can dress up or down…

This loafer style always gets rave reviews, and I love the textured silver metallic finish here, which is bright but not too blingy.

These woven leather metallic espadrilles are show-stoppers! Though they’re a bit on the spendy side, they’re from Paul Green, so should be comfortable and have good arch support.

Here’s a metallic huarache style, well-reviewed and just under $100.

And I love the bow detail on the back of these ballet flats…

Sandals

Eileen Fisher espadrille sandals in light gold. These are SO comfortable! Details & more metallic shoes for women at une femme d'un certain age.
ESPADRILLE SANDALS (SIMILAR)

I’ve owned (and worn) these espadrille sandals for a few years now, and look forward to wearing them again once the weather allows. They are incredibly comfortable, and look good with just about any pants style. (Great with skirts & dresses too!) This season’s version is more platinum than gold, but still on the more muted side.

As with many sandal styles, I go down 1/2 a size from what I usually wear in closed-toe shoes.

I’ll admit I’m more than a little tempted by these. I love the simple, minimal look.

Wearing in Paris: a blue-green linen jacket, botanical print scarf, jeans and wedge sandals. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

I own an earlier season version of these Mephisto sandals, and have walked for miles all over Paris in them, in complete comfort.

They’re stable on uneven surfaces, have great support, and are adjustable with Velcro closures over the toes and at the ankle. If you prefer small, subtle pops of metallic, this style might appeal.

I love a utilitarian shoe + shiny finish mashup.

And here’s another example. I purchased these in the copper color last year, and wore them often with everyday casual outfits. (Here’s the EVA waterproof version…)

If you’re looking for something a little dressier, I have a version of these from an earlier season, and find them quite comfortable (and easy to walk in…)

These could go casual or dress up a bit, and they look nicely padded…

  1. I have the Beek toe ring sandal and I love them! I’ve had them for 3 years and they get more comfortable every year. Also, Been customer service is really good and I appreciate that as much as the shoes. Great post!

  2. I totally agree with you. Metallic shoes and boots go with anything and add interest. I have a few ().
Lightblue and pink shoewear is also very versatile I have noticed. Who would have thought.

  3. I love subtle metallic shoes and think they’re timeless. My only caution is for a big-footed woman like me: In size 11, a too-shiny silver colored shoe can look like you’re wearing a roll of aluminum foil on your foot, LOL.

My current fave is the Toni Pons Vic espadrille in silver — it’s incredibly comfortable, perfect for hot weather, and people stop me to ask what they are and where they can get their own pair:

  4. Metallic sandals and ballet flats are perfect for summer, for my fair skin. They are my favorites, par excellence.

I own a pair of white sandals similar to the Mephistos and find them a dream for walking. I’ve even worn them grocery shopping in the big box store with complete comfort. Maybe it’s the cork platforms or the comfy adjustable straps? They are the sandals that get me compliments.
