A Few Things That Caught My Eye This Week
Within the next few weeks, Fall fashions will begin hitting the racks and shelves (both real and virtual). It’s always been my favorite season to refresh and replenish my wardrobe. But with cooler weather still weeks away (or months, for some of us), it can be hard to wrap one’s head around sweaters and jackets. So I’ve learned to look to accessories first for a “Fall Fashion Fix.”
Fall Accessories You Can Wear Now…
Croc-embossed leathers continue to be a strong trend for fall. But they never really go out of style. Above, this is a new bag shape from Brahmin. It’s smaller than the Duxbury, but has plenty of room for daily use. I’m crazy about this color (“Dark Rum”) which is exactly the kind of warm caramel brown I’ve had on my wish list for several seasons now. The color is light enough not to overpower a summer look, and will really pop against a fall or winter outfit. Several other colors available here.
These croc-embossed loafers are included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which ends soon. This is another wear-now-and-into-fall style.
Patent leather is another finish that adds “oomph” to shoes and bags. For those who prefer cooler colors, these patent platform oxfords are offered in both this Burgundy shown and black. (Can be ordered this weekend during an early access event, will ship later this month.)
A lightweight cotton bandana can be a fun and budget-friendly way to add or try out some new colors for fall. Tie it around the handle of your bag or a ponytail while the weather’s still warm, then wear kerchief-style when the days start to get crisp. More colors and patterns here.

I’ve seen a few women wearing smaller scarves (like the bandana). I have a closet full of larger scarves and seldom wear them as I feel they are wearing me. The bandanas in the link above are long enough that they can be twisted and wrapped around the neck and knotted. I’ve seen a few smaller rectangles on women that are worn around the neck and knotted, too. These smaller scarves add a shot of color without being a focal point. The one pictured above has a nice, small print and would be great with a scooped neck striped tee (I saw this look on a woman). Just what I’ve been looking for. Thanks, Susan.
