Leopard Print Sweaters: 3 Stylish Outfit Ideas
Those who know me, or have read this blog for any length of time, probably know that I am a lifelong fan of leopard print. 🐆 And when I find a good one, I pounce! So when I spotted (ha!) this cardigan and shell at J.Crew last week, I did not hesitate to scoop them up. Today I’m sharing three outfit ideas with these leopard sweaters.
How to wear leopard print sweaters: 3 outfit ideas
What I love about this leopard print: it’s warm and vibrant, without being too heavy, dark, or loud. The pattern is smallish and even, which makes it easier for petite people to wear. It’s a little bit abstract, so doesn’t come across as wearing a pelt.
The cardigan and shell are both cashmere and very soft. They’re lightweight enough to layer well, transition into spring, and travel well.
A matching shell and cardigan is an easy way to look and feel put-together, and these pieces work well as a twinset. What I like here is that the leopard print keeps the twinset formula from looking too fussy and staid. And the classic, polished style helps to “tame” the leopard print. I also like the friction between the polished Mary Jane flats and the more casual jeans.

My sizes: Jacket – Small, Shell – Medium, Pants – 8
And yes, the shell and cardigan can be worn separately. Here I’ve styled the shell with a short leather jacket (the same one I packed last fall for London & Paris). The barrel-leg pants are a favorite style from Ruti, in a new color (copper). LOVE these!!!

My sizes: Cardigan – Small, Tee – Small, Jeans – 8
I LOVE to pair leopard print with vibrant color! The tee is organic cotton from Colorful Standard. (If you’re looking for great basics with loads of color choices, this brand has you covered.) This color (Tropical Sea) is great for Springs and Autumns, and I think some Summers could wear it too.
Or just a little leopard?
If you prefer your leopard print in smaller doses, shoes are one way to go. Take a look at these:
Vionic ballet flats | Bibi Lou loafers | Dolce Vita Mary Janes | Paul Green sneakers (now 30% off)
Or maybe a scarf? (Also in Navy and Black/White and soft Burgundy colorways.) These scarves are one of my travel essentials! And this cap is also really cute!
Do you wear leopard prints? Or is there another print you love to wear?

Leopard? Mais oui! In all forms. But never in a manner that is risqué. Stylish, yes. Cougar, no. 🙂
That’s very funny.
You have found your perfect storm! These outfits are so cute on you and make a happy vibe!!!You nailed it!
Hi susie, thanks so much!
I love leopard, too. Your styling tips are always inspirational. Thanks!
I bought a fluffy Petal and Pup cardigan (it’s sold out now) this fall and it’s probably my most warn sweater. It’s so fun and versatile. I am intrigued by leopard jeans, but I am not sure I’d wear them enough to justify the purchase. I really like the bright shirt under your sweater – it looks great!
Like you, I LOVE LEOPARD! I have a cashmere sweater set similar to yours that I have had for 15+ years. I wear it almost year round. I have leopard flats and a subtle black cheetah spot raincoat that I love. I consider leopard a classic.
I adore leopard print accessories and have acquired a small collection of shoes, scarves and handbags. I recently had my colors done at House of Colour and learned I’m a summer. Is there a way to still integrate some of my collection into this color scheme? I appreciate your suggestions.
Hi Rebecca, yes, you can probably still incorporate many of your leopard accessories with your Summer palette. Your browns and beiges will be cooler (less yellow-based) so those cooler leopard prints will work best for you, especially for scarves worn near your face.
Love anything leopard and no one wears it better than you!
Thanks so much, cindy!
Another fan of the bright tee with the cardi. To my eyes, the accessories make it spectacular, especially the turquoise and the gold jewelry. Inspired combination.
Thanks, Susan!
The outfit with the turquoise sweater under the leopard print cardigan is simply outstanding on you. Perfection!
Thanks so much, Linda!
These items are so good on you. I love the first styling most, then the third so obviously the second comes last.
I like leopard a lot but I don’t have many items anymore.

Thanks! I thought you’d pick #3 as your favorite because of the bright color. 😉
I have similar Vionic leopard flats! They’re fun to wear. Dresses up a casual outfit.
I really like how leopard print plays well with blues, especially aqua, sky and cobalt
blue. I don’t currently have any leopard print clothing or accessories, but I like the look. I could see pairing the Paul Green sneakers with socks in any one of the above blues with a neutral pair of pants.
Thanks! I’m actually wearing those sneakers with bright pink socks today. 😉
You inspired and emboldened me to add leopard to my wardrobe. I had a pair of Skecher leopard sneakers that I wore to pieces, and a belt and the Black classic leopard cashmere silk scarf (which is great size for styling).
