Out and about in London: November

Whew, my first three-and-a-half days in London have been a whirlwind! I’m going to let the photos do most of the heavy lifting here, as I’ve barely stopped moving.

I arrived Thursday afternoon, that evening Manina whisked me off to an art gallery event.

Wall sculptures by Tom Henderdon, ceramics by Christopher Riggio at jaggedart gallery
Absolutely LOVED these acrylic wall pieces!

(I didn’t have a chance to take an outfit photo, but will probably wear the same thing out tonight, so will snap one then.)

Friday

The next morning, we were off with Rachel (also from Red Leopard) to the Spirit of Christmas fair, an exhibition of independent brands and creators.

We spent quite a bit of time at the Emma J. Shipley booth, mostly checking out the scarves. I managed to pick up a couple of fun holiday gifts there, and from some other exhibitors.

What I wore:

I’m so glad I packed this little red “Betty” cardigan! It’s a real outfit-maker.

Rachel and Manina are also fans of this cardigan!

Saturday

I went wandering on my own around Chelsea to check out the shops and sights. The rain (mostly) held off while I was out, but it was almost too crowded to take many photos.

Sneakers and fallen leaves.

Pub snack!

On the way home, I ducked in out of the rain for a late “lunch” at a nearby pub…(and yes, I did ask for vinegar).

By Sunday…

the weather had cleared up quite a bit, so we hopped a bus over to Marylebone to check out the new Sézane flagship store and take a walk in Regent’s Park. (It was too crowded to get photos in the store, but I’ll try to get some later during my visit here.)

Pretty “pondscape” in Regent’s Park
Song and Dance roses in Regent's Park.
Love the name and color of these roses!

We took a turn through the Rose Garden, and I was pleasantly surprised to see many still in bloom.

Heron in Regent's Park, London.
This heron was fishing completely undeterred by an audience.

I forgot to take an outfit shot, but wore jeans, sneakers, hoodie, and brown leopard print scarf. I’ve mostly been wearing the down coat because of the wet conditions, and because it’s lighter.

Fireworks in London for Guy Fawkes night.

Last night was Guy Fawkes night, and I had an excellent view of the fireworks from the room where I’m staying!

And yesterday, Manina and I did an Instagram Live to talk about the Gamine style personality. You can watch it here:

And yes, we hope to do more of these for some other Style Personalities…

To see what I packed, check out my London travel capsule wardrobe here.

Lots more on the schedule this week, will have my camera at the ready!

  1. Looks like fun Susan! How are you liking the JCrew hoodie? And what size did you get in the EF lantern pants? They look cute on you! You and Manina did a wonderful job of discussing the permutations of The Gamine!

      1. I got it also and wore it last night with my jeans to Willi’s Wine Bar in Santa Rosa! You look darling in your outfits!

  2. It looks like you are having a lovely time! Thanks for sharing. It inspires me to think about a return trip to London. . .but I am trying to make myself go to places I have never been, so it may be a while.

  3. Beautiful photos Susan! How do you like your Paul green sneakers as I’m thinking of investing in a pair. Any recommendation on a colour for Winters to wear? (What colour are yours?) Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  5. Aw, London looks fabulous. I love your friendship with the Red Leppard ladies – it’s neat to see how it’s progressed since your first meeting! Such a gift to really ‘connect’ with someone (s).

I LOVE that Sezane cardigan on you – that red is one of my favorite colors. Sadly the length is so short for tall me 🙁

Finally, thank you for the photos. I really like the way you document your trips with the packing list/trip wear photos/what-worked-and-what-did-not-work-posts. Really useful (and fun to read) for those of us who love to travel. Hopefully one of these for Paris is to come!

  6. Loved the red Betty cardigan on you so much that I decided to order it for myself. I am 5’1” and rarely order anything that is not specifically Petite sized. But since they offer free returns, I decided to take a chance. Thanks for posting the wonderful photos of your trip.

  7. The rose photo reminds me of a musical I saw in London years back–Song and Dance. Andrew Lloyd Webber music with Wayne Sleep and Lulu. Very good! Loved your photos.

  8. Susan, the photos are fantastic. You managed to catch so many diverse areas. Felt like I was right there. Savor every second of your trip.

  9. You look beautiful. Love your glasses. I was in London a few weeks ago – I wish I had about the Sezane store. Next time!! Safe travels

  10. I love that Betty cardigan! I may have missed it, but could you share what size you purchased? I’m really like the magenta on Manina, but thinking either the blue or violet may suit me better…consider myself a cool winter.

  11. Love all the outfits, especially the brown and red – so striking! Have a wonderful time in London. Wish I were there with you. Thank you for sharing your trip with us.

  12. Your wonderful photos took me right back Susan! Beautiful snippets and outfits, you have such a good eye for colour and detail.
Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful time.
    Best wishes,
    Julie x

  13. Welcome to our country. Looks like you’re having a great time here in the UK, I’m so pleased Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  14. I notice that your trousers leave your ankles a bit exposed. I was wondering what type of sock you are wearing since the weather is chilly.

  15. You look so happy in London and like everyone else, just love the red cardigan. The Guy Fawkes fireworks looked spectacular and reminded me of my childhood when we celebrated Guy Fawkes night. Unfortunately, fireworks were eventually banned due to the fire risk and accidents – but it was still fun. Which lipstick are you wearing?

  16. Hi Susan,

I enjoyed your video with Manina on the topic of Gamine types. Manian did my colors & style types in spring of 2021. I am a paintbox spring, which means bright colors & contrast. My style types are classic & Gamine. I do love my colors & styles types. My question is how to incorporate the french look which I also love. Any suggestions?
