Looking Ahead: Spring Travel Plans & Small Joys Along the Way

Anticipation is half the fun of travel—at least it is for me. I often plan trips several months ahead, which means they can feel a bit abstract for a while. But in those last few weeks, there’s always a moment when everything clicks into place, the trip feels real, and the pleasure of looking forward to it truly begins. Keep reading for details on my travel plans and more.

April in Paris…

..is always a good idea! And it’s even more fun with friends.

This April, I’m partnering with Emma from Tour With Absolutely for a Paris Fashion Tour. Our eight guests will spend a week immersed in fashion, shopping, food, and culture—sharing some of my favorite Paris spots and enjoying the easy camaraderie that comes from traveling with women who love Paris, style, and thoughtful experiences as much as I do. You can view the full itinerary here.

This particular tour is now sold out, but we’re already planning future trips. There will be more opportunities to join me in France, and newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear when new tours are announced, so if you haven’t signed up yet, now’s the time.

A Little Time in London

And of course I’ll be spending some time in London to see friends, and check out shopping and museum exhibitions. (Top of the list is Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art at the V&A!) And I know my friends will have some fun activities planned.

If you have travel planned this spring, I’ll be sharing updated travel capsule wardrobe ideas later this week. In the meantime, here are a few more travel posts that might be helpful:

As always, part of the joy of travel for me is in the looking ahead—gathering ideas, refining what to pack, and savoring what’s to come. Be sure to follow along for more travel wardrobe ideas, as well as packing and travel tips to help you plan with ease and intention.

  1. Bonjour Susan,
I am excited for our trip in April. I am starting to think about what to bring and bought a few new pieces of clothing. April will be here before we know it!

  2. I can’t wait for this tour! Paris is one of my favorite places to visit and this tour will be an amazing experience. I’m deep into my planning right now, mostly on the logistical and tech gear side. I’m staying a couple of weeks more after the tour is over and also heading to London. I’m looking forward to your upcoming posts on what to pack. I could use some good suggestions.

I just applied for the ETA, which you now need to visit London and it could not have been easier. I highly recommend the official UK ETA App, which walks you right through it, including scanning your passport and taking a photo. It took about 10 minutes and the approval came almost immediately.

  3. We leave for Japan in April. We will spend about 7 days travel in Japan and then pick up a cruise that will take us to Hokkaido (3 stops) and on to Alaska(6 stops). Very different wardrobe needs from a fashion tour in Paris. Do you have any advice for wardrobes on my trip? The cruise ship is not formal but there are nights where we get dressy. Also I am a winter/summer. No brown, mustard, orange or olive greens for me.

  4. I am so excited for the Paris trip! Look forward to some packing tips!
    See you soon.

Emma has been terrific, helping me with extra plans and travel details.

I’m staying two extra days so if you want to shop, I’m in!

    Merci!

    Ellen

  5. What a wonderful way to see Paris, with a group of like minded women and with a newly fledged ‘tour guide’ such as yourself who loves Paris. There must be a lot of women who want to travel, but are nervous doing it by themselves, so a tour such as this, opens up a whole world of opportunity to do so. Hope it goes well for you – maybe the start of a new career….
