Sifting Through The Memorial Day Sales
I’ve learned to shop sales the same way I shop at any other time: look for quality pieces that will earn their keep over several seasons (or years). It can be tempting to pick up a “one hit wonder” just because it’s deeply discounted, but I encourage keeping sustainability in mind when making purchases.

Memorial Day Sales: My Top Picks…
Here are a few items that caught my eye from the Memorial Day sales. I’ve tried to clear through the seasonal fluff, and show you pieces that I think will have staying power. (Though I’ve attempted to choose items which are available in a range of sizes, some things may have limited availability. My apologies in advance if your size or color choice is sold out.)
Clothing
I purchased this lightweight linen-blend cardigan last year in the “Bossa Nova” color (see how I wore it HERE) and recently bought the “Tan Cobblestone” color, a great summer neutral. Many colors are currently 40% off during the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale. I’m not the only one who likes this cardigan…it’s very well-reviewed! Many colors in Plus sizes on sale too!
The AG “Caden” trousers that I like are on sale in this color. They call it “New Spruce,” but to me it’s more of a bright olive. Nice color though, and could work as a neutral or a color accent. Currently 45% off.
Here’s another option to wear over a sleeveless dress or top for arm coverage, or as a lightweight layer for cool evenings. It’s 50% off, too.

Travel
I’ve tried several “Personal Item” carry-ons, but this one is still my favorite. I love the videos they include with those Lo & Sons bags. More retailers should do this. I never would have imagined how much that bag could hold until I saw it for myself. I also appreciate how they show the two models (O.G. and O.M.G.) on various height women. Simple, yet so extraordinarily helpful.

It is. Nowadays they may show a standard and (not very fat) plus-sized model, but it is much more rare to see someone only 5 feet tall at any dress size.
I am currently in Norway on a 5 week tour of Scandinavia. This trip I tucked my well-worn L&S bag into my Longchamp tote to carry on the plane. It worked out brilliantly; – lots of room and very organized.
AG Khakis ordered! I am hoping they can replace a beloved pair of similar Vince boyfriend chinos that I literally wore till they fell apart. AG jeans fit me well so fingers crossed!
Mary, I love these khakis. They’re very soft. They do run a bit big so I ordered a size down. They’re a great 4 season pant. I plan on wearing mine in the fall with a twin set and in the winter with a cashmere turtleneck and some boots.

Agree about the OG bag. I ordered one ( the OMG) and it’s perfect as a carry on or a weekender. Love the shoe compartment and how it has that built in sleeve that allows you to slide it over your luggage handle.

I ordered the long cardigan in the green color on Monday and wore it today and have received several compliments. I called Nordstrom and they gave me the price adjustment which is another reaso why I love them so much!!
