Stylish Holiday Outfit Ideas for Warm Weather

Ready or not, the holiday season is here. I always think I have plenty of time and then Bam! I blink and it’s Thanksgiving. 🦃 I’m actually looking forward to the season this year: the festive decorations, the music, the gatherings with family and friends. Several of you have asked for holiday outfits for warm weather, so today I’m sharing an easy, festive casual holiday outfit with jeans and a white shirt.

(Well, a slightly warm, creamy white in this case, though this look would also work with white white for those of you with cool palettes.)

An easy dressed-up casual holiday outfit for warmer climates

My sizes: Shirt – 6, Jeans – 27

I’d promised a few posts back to show you how I styled this shirt. I like it untucked, and partially unbuttoned for a kind of louche, after-hours look. The slight sheen of the fabric and pleating details make it feel more dressy. It does have a relaxed fit, and could also be worn open over a shell or camisole. I think it’s just a bit too long for me, and will probably have it hemmed.

Just a note: this style seems to be selling out in some sizes. Scroll to your size on the product page to check availability. You might also check out these styles:

(Lip color is “Poppy,” great for Springs and most Autumns. Summers and Winters, try “Candy Apple.”)

A dark wash jean will look more dressed up than a light or medium wash. The jeans I’m wearing here are from a prior season. Both the shirt and similar jeans linked are currently marked way down for Black Friday. If jeans aren’t your thing, a slim flare pant like these will also work.

I’m really smitten with these velvet flats. They’re also available in black. If you have a medium or narrow foot, you’ll want to go down 1/2 size from your usual. If your feet are medium-to-wide, try your regular size.

And should it turn a little chilly, this cashmere-silk wrap embellished with Swarovski crystals adds an elegant touch. (Save 25% for Black Friday with code BFP25.)

A few things to keep in mind if you’ll be shopping the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales…

We’re already being inundated with emails, flyers, and maybe even texts urging us to SHOP SHOP SHOP! It can get overwhelming, so I just wanted to share a few reminders to help you navigate the sales consciously and without stress:

👉 Make a list. Whether you’re looking for wardrobe items, holiday gifts, household items, holiday decor…make a list and keep it with you at all times. When you do shop, whether in person or online, look for those items on your list first.

👉 Consider what I call the Full Price Rule. It’s simple: if you wouldn’t look twice at an item at full price, don’t buy it on sale. It won’t satisfy you.

👉 Don’t let FOMO* drive you. This is related to the tip above. If you don’t find what you want, don’t feel you have to purchase something just to take advantage of an “amazing” discount or special promotion. There will always be more opportunities.

(*Fear Of Missing Out)

👉 Know the brand or store’s return policies. This is especially true if you’re shopping online. If the color or size or whatever isn’t what you’d anticipated, the last thing you want to realize is that it was Final Sale.

👉 Sometimes it’s worth paying full price. If an item is unique, or exactly what you’ve been looking for but inventory is limited, sometimes it’s better to get that one Just Right thing at full price than three “just OK’s” on sale. And if you’re willing to ride it out to see if your Goldilocks item eventually goes on sale, you can bookmark, use a retailer’s wish list feature, or if you’re following me in the LTK app, you can receive notification of a price drop for any product you’ve clicked on in the app.

And if you’ve opted out of shopping during the Cyber Week sales, that’s OK too.

  1. I vowed to shop my closet for holiday outfits this year ( switching over my closet from summer to winter found a load of things that could be worn for the holidays)……however, I love the blouse and shoes you showcase today…..going to have to think long and hard about my vow!!!!

  2. The lovely cream (off-white) shirt you are wearing, doesn’t seem too long to me but perhaps that is because you have one hand in your pocket.
Great outfit with the accessories. And the shoes! You are always so good with shoes!

  3. You look beautiful!
Thank you for all the great posts!
I don’t often comment but, I always open and read them!
    Thanks,

  4. That outfit looks fabulous on you!! I love it! I’ve got a similar blouse in my closet, now I know what I’m wearing Thursday. The shoes though…………..to die for! Also, the baby supervising is wonderful!!

  5. Such wise advice! I definitely feel like I will miss out if I don’t buy something online for Black Friday & that’s just so silly! I don’t want to impulse buy so I will heed your above advice! Thank you! And Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!!

  6. I really am enjoying reading your blog. Here is my dilemma; I like lip stick but afraid of color (on lips) and I go for something subdued (and never thought about it being warm/cool matte etc). Can you help a gal out in her sixties as to where to start…and I usually pick one thing and stick to that and I do not consider what I’m wearing (sorry) and yes what make up I do wear is from a make up counter, not the drug store :)….. clothing color wise I’m a summer.
I admire your outfits and style that is so well put together. Ohhhhh and are there any tips for nail color for aging hands.
