This new-ish to me brand has some great elevated basics

me and em cropped boucle knit jacket in cream

I didn’t have much time to shop during my time in London, but one of the shops I did visit was ME+EM. I remember checking out one of their boutiques briefly on a previous trip, but it was during summer sales and I didn’t see anything that worked for me. Manina had recommended I visit them again and I was quite impressed with their selection of elevated basics.

I only had time to try on a couple of sweaters (both of which came home with me) but I’d love to go back and do a deeper dive into their collection next time we’re in London.

I did do some exploring online though, and thought I’d share a few of the kind of basic-not-generic pieces that are worth investing in. Above, a cropped knit boucle jacket in cream. It’s also offered in black, and here’s a longer version if you prefer.

me and em textured stripe cotton breton top

No, they aren’t inexpensive, but rather are investment pieces that can be worn year after year. Above, a textured cotton Breton pullover in navy and cream.

me and em curved hem cashmere sweater bright blue

I LOVE the curved hem on this cashmere pullover, and one in a mint green color came home with me. This blue one above is currently 30% off. I took an X-Small in this style.

me and em classic navy peacoat

Here’s a classic peacoat in dark navy.

me and em striped cotton and silk shirt

And a subtly striped cotton and silk relaxed fit shirt.

ME+EM has lots of gorgeous, sophisticated colors in their current collection, both cool and warm. They do deliver to the US, shipping is $25, returns are free. Here’s a chart for UK to US size conversion.

This isn’t a sponsored post; I just wanted to share this brand for those of you looking to add some elevated, timeless pieces to your wardrobe. Here are a few more I thought you might like… (use arrow keys to see more styles)

Glad you found Me&Em on your London trip. I’ve been wearing their clothes for a long time and yes they are pricey but the knitwear really lasts. I change into my super comfortable palazzo pants nearly every evening so the cost per wear over five years will be pretty low!

Susan, do you anticipate any modification to your colors as your hair grays?

Hi Bonnie, not really. The color analysis is based on skin tone. While I was at Red Leopard, they re-did my analysis with just the gray hair showing, and it came out the same as when they originally analyzed 2 years ago (“Golden Spring”). Because my hair is light (both colored and gray) my contrast levels shouldn’t change much. Someone who has dark colored hair and goes gray may find their contrast levels shift, and although their seasonal palette won’t change, some of their “best” colors within the palette may shift, or they may adjust the contrast levels between pieces in their outfits.

Morning Susan, loved the sweaters you purchased while in London. I especially love the green one. I do not see a mint listed but many options in green. Would you be so kind as to look and see if your color is under a different name or no longer available. Very much appreciate your help.

Hi Terry, I believe it’s the color “Limon.”

Susan, just scrolled through ME+EM…Lovely chic line of clothes. Did you consider any of the casual dresses there as a break from wearing pants? You had mentioned earlier about a custom piece or two with a different boutique. How was that experience?
I am very fortunate to be in London April 23-26 so may have an opportunity to visit ME+EM.
Still have plans for my style session with Red Leopard while there. Such anticipation!
Enjoyed your photos of London… I always try to visit different areas and parks when there.
    Chelsea is on my list.

Hi Cath, unfortunately I didn’t have much time to really go through the racks at Me+Em. Most of the dresses I spotted at the time were would have been too oversized and ruffled for me. But I’m hoping to be back in London later this spring and will take another pass through the store.

I had some custom pieces made by Amanda Thompson Couture, and am delighted with those. I’ll be sharing them here soon.

Susan, I discovered Me&Em last year and purchased the Peacoat in black as well as a few other items. Their clothes are high quality and their service on deliveries is very good. Enjoying your new experiences, thank you for taking us along.

I’ve just discovered them as well. My interest lies with the pants. I have my eye on a couple of pairs. Unfortunately, most of the tops/sweaters seem to have a boxy and or cropped shape which is a no go for me. For those who are cool toned I found a cardigan at COS-I think it’s the right shade of fuchsia. I haven’t gotten it yet so we’ll see. It also doesn’t seem to be cropped, over sized or has drop shoulders, all a plus. I’m crossing my fingers. https://www.cosstores.com/en_usd/women/womenswear/knitwear/cardigans/product.v-neck-silk-cardigan-pink.1055612003.html

I have seen other pieces from this brand on other blogs, and like many of them very much. However, the UK/US size conversion shows sizing up to 12 only. I wish you had addressed this, and am disappointed you did not.
