I found some not-so-basic basics for your summer wardrobe…
My style is simple, but that doesn’t mean I want to look generic. Especially during summer, I’m always on the lookout for easy-to-wear wardrobe basics with interesting details.
Style hunt: summer wardrobe basics (with interest)
I’ve been neck-deep in a wardrobe detox this week. (I’ll have more about that tomorrow.) While I’m not in the mood to shop for much at this point, I could still use a couple of travel-friendly summer tops (that aren’t plain tee shirts) to throw on with my jeans. While looking for those, I stumbled across a few things I thought you might like.
Knit Tops
I love the ribbed fabric on this top, the set-in sleeves, and the crossover/split detail in the back (also great for ventilation!). I’ve ordered it to try, will report back. It’s also available in a bright blue and lavender, sizes XS-XL (00-16/18).
If you prefer a bit more coverage, here’s a 3/4 sleeve henley in the same fabric. Also 3 colors, sizes XS-XL. Amour Vert is a brand centered around sustainability…even the packaging is biodegradable or compostable! (And they plant a tree for every tee sold.)
Here’s a 100% cotton tee with a fun embroidered cherry pattern. Other patterns available too, sizes 2-22
Dresses
Doesn’t get much easier than a tee shirt dress! This one in 100% cotton has a tiny ruffle detail at the sleeve. Several colors/patterns available, Regular and Tall sizes 2-22. (Reviewers say it runs large.)
Here’s a long linen shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves. You could wear this 3 ways: as shown, belted, or open as a lightweight duster.
Cardigans
A lightweight cardigan is one of my summer wardrobe essentials for cool evenings or air-conditioned interiors.
This one has pointelle detailing on the sleeves, and a shirttail hem. In 4 colors in Misses, Petites, Plus and Plus Petites.
This cute striped cardigan is a cotton blend, in sizes XS-XL. Also offered in navy with cream stripes.

I like all of these choices, Susan, but am particularly interested in Amour Vert. Have you purchased from them before? How does the sizing run?
Hi Susan, yes I’ve purchased from them and find the quality of their pieces to be quite good. Sizing is mostly TTS in my experience. I’ve ordered two sizes in the green top to try and will report back.
I really like the t-shirt dress, but love that sweet doggie even more!
Yes, that’s my favourite (dress and doggie); I also liked the shape of the Amour vert henley, but they are out of it in black and it doesn’t come in that lovely apple green. I don’t wear light blue or white.
Agreed! I haven’t seen an Irish Terrier in person since I visited the UK in 2009. I love all terriers, but particularly the long-legged (and rare!) ones.
My boy is the result of an unscheduled date between an Irish terrier and a very large golden doodle. She was an auburn beauty and he was a strapping blonde..all ten of their puppies were black with orange moustaches and white stars on their chests, a handsome if unplanned brood. All pups were hand raised by mom’s family as she was short a couple nipples. My close friend and I have spent twelve years feeling very blessed to own two of these unusual dogs. They are sweet tempered, gentle with kids and both possess a blood curdling growl( think wolfman or loup-garou) and trademark deep bark of the Irish terrier. At 65 pounds they are larger than their Mom but smaller than their 100lb father!
I love cherry pattern in anything. Throwback to grandmas kitchen probably. I like the green top. I hope they put out a long sleeve version. I have so many short sleeve tops. Can’t wait to see you style the cherry top.
