A French-inspired white jeans outfit for stepping out this summer

A white jeans outfit with a polka dot tee

I was telling a friend yesterday about how much I love these jeans, and it inspired me to go play in my closet. With warmer weather on the way, I thought I’d aim for a “summer polished casual” white jeans outfit. My eye went to this linen polka dot tee, which coordinates beautifully with the jeans. (The brown tee nicely picks up the gold-brown stitching on the jeans.) OK, summer, I’m ready for ya!

Susan B. wears pearl hoop earrings, a French Kande pearl and gold necklace, and Sezane polka dot tee.

So why do I call this look “French-insipred”? The linen tee is from French brand Sezane, and the necklace is one of my favorites from French Kande. And the contrast stitching on the white jeans is a very French kind of detail. I may not be able to visit Paris quite yet, but I’d feel right at home there in this white jeans outfit.

Enjoying “me time,” the French way…

My French Country Home Box: a French subscription box issued quarterly.

I can now reveal the contents of May’s My French Country Home Box. The theme for this box was “time for moi-même” and was full of delightful gifts to make one feel pampered. Sharon Santoni personally selects each of these uniquely French items. It’s always such a treat to open the box and discover what’s inside!

Above were just some of the items…

  • organic Madeleine mix
  • a mini-selection of Kusmi teas (my favorite!)
  • an antique tea cup
  • a floral print pillow sham
  • Mademoiselle St. Germain serum with thyme from le potager du rois in Versailles (this is really lovely!)
  • a luxurious cotton headband
  • alpaca socks
  • another lovely watercolor print by Michel Charrier (I am definitely going to be framing these…)
  • a pretty gold brooch, inspired by nature

The My French Country Home Box is issued four times annually, and each box has a unique theme. The theme for the August box will be “St. Tropez.” I can’t wait to see what’s in it!

  1. I love white jeans and they are a staple year around for me. Right now, in the southeast it is hot but mostly humid so, consequently I wear linen drawstring pants at home but when I’m out and about your outfit suggestion, but with cooler colors, is perfect. Stores etc. run the A C so high you freeze. I’m thinking of getting some demi boot cut linen pants from J Crew to change things up. I tried them on in the store and loved them but didn’t buy them. Go figure?

  2. I love, love, love this outfit on you and am considering purchasing the tee (already have those pants from Chico’s, thanks to you) and wondering about sizing on it as that’s a brand from which I’ve never purchased. What size is yours, if you don’t mind?

    1. Hi Carol, thanks! This tee runs a little larger than a lot of Sezane’s tops. I’m wearing the X-Small.

  3. Love white jeans. In fact I wore a very similar pair with tan stitching tonight even though it’s been a freezing cold winter’s day here in Melbourne. So easy to “winterise” them with tan, black, grey, chestnut knits and jackets and boots.
I love your linen tee shirt – just perfect with the jeans and such a flattering shape and colour. You look fabulous!

  4. Susan you look lovely today. I love your style. How can I get the live podcast of the 4 girls talking. I always have to wait until somone posts .

  5. I love white jeans, but they’re a bit difficult here in Houston. White pants seem made for summer, but it’s way too hot to wear jeans here from June-September. Shorts or linen pants are pretty much the only way to go. Having said that, these look great and I’m considering them for a winter look!

  6. Love those jeans on you! I’m wondering how the fit compares with the AG Ex boyfriend jeans that you’ve shown recently on the blog. Those are pretty much my holy grail jeans but when I tried a pair of white (an off white actually) AG Ex boyfriend jeans a couple of months ago I found the denim to be a bit heavy and knew they wouldn’t work when the temperatures rose here in New England. And they were also a bit lower waisted than my other pairs of AG Ex Boyfriend jeans, which I didn’t love.

    1. Hi Caroline, thanks! I think the sizing is pretty similar to the AG’s. These are definitely a lighter weight fabric.

  7. I love your style and have noticed a few beautiful items I would love to try! However, I live overseas now, traveling home isn’t going to happen in the near future, if ever. I love J Jill and recently spent a fortune having my favorite pants and tops sent over! (The old pants from 2017 were so worn they had frayed around the bottom hem!) I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of both the fabric and make! Improved from 2017 and greatly improved from 2015! I would love to hear your opinion on J Jill as it costs $52 for handling and another $67 for FedEx!

    1. Hi Sue, I know J.Jill has a lot of fans here, and I have shopped there in the past. The last several seasons they haven’t really offered colors that work for me, but I do try to include some of their items when I do style roundups.

      1. I agree on the colours. This was the first season I have been tempted by the dusty blues. I do love how J Jill has kept its sizing and cuts so I know I can order and it will be perfect.

  8. I was thinking the same about the February box watercolor, wonder if the May box is sold out.

The white jeans look great on you. Sadly, light colors on me attract stains or dirt and I have legs like a linebacker.

  9. Je ne sais quoi as a compliment, as looking very chic! Do like your accessories as IMHO elevates the outfit. For myself and due to the climate I live in; white denim jeans are only a staple in my summer wardrobe, however on occasion do wear shades of other whites in different fabric types during cooler months. -Brenda-
