Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 from our home to yours - une femme d'un certain âge

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 from our home to yours

Table for two with Thanksgiving decorations. Details at une femme d'un certain age.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones!

We’ve placed an order for takeout from a local restaurant, and will be having a family Zoom in the afternoon. Other than that, it should be a quiet day. No complaints!

I’m so thankful for our health and wellbeing, and that of our family and friends. And I’m thankful for all of you who read and share your thoughts here. Be well, be safe, and enjoy the holiday if you’re celebrating.

Just a note: due to Covid, many more people this year are struggling to feed their families. If you have a few moments and a few extra dollars, may I encourage you to donate to your regional food bank? Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your meal and your quiet day. That’s what we will do. Just enjoy the peace. Read, and watch some tv shows with sub titles on Netflix. I did cook dressing and bj smoking a couple of Cornish hens. The rest I bought,. Call family & friends on phone. Give thanks for all we do have.

A very quiet day planned here too! Just two of us – we’re usually 12-18 people! Despite Covid restrictions we are grateful we have our kids nearby and their kids and extended families. In my heart I know 2021 will be better!
Enjoy your peaceful day! I’m cooking smaller turkey and mini everything else. One dessert instead of assortment.
    Stay well!

Just two of us today, after years of big festive events. It’s ok and the right thing to do.
I thought your suggestion about food banks was spot on, so many people truly suffering this year.
If you don’t mind me asking, what is your silverware pattern? Lovely.

Thanks! The silverware was inherited from le Monsieur’s grandparents. The maker is Holmes & Edwards. Then there’s a mark “IS”. I’m not sure what the pattern is.

I think the silver pattern is Royal Dainish by International sterling company.

It’s close, but a different maker and slightly different pattern.

The pattern is “Danish Princess,” introduced by Holmes & Edwards in 1938. See Silverplated Flatware by Hagan.

Thanksgiving has always been ‘our’ holiday – a time for the extended family to gather, taking turns hosting over the decades, handing down the tradition to our children now. So, this year we take a pause in activity but not in gratitude. We’ll have a takeout meal as well and Zoom later. I’m grateful for your blog, Susan, and your down to earth sensibilities.

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from Canada. We must be thankful to have a loved one to stay tucked in with and you are so right about taking the time to still share with the less fortunate.

Your table looks lovely. Thank you for your always inspiring blog. My husband and I will enjoy our vegan version of the traditional meal for two but as our family and grandkids are nearby, we look forward to a hike with one family and backyard visit with the other (with pie slices promised). Much to be grateful for amidst all the crazy. I second your recommendation of supporting our local food banks. The need is great and the lines are heartbreakingly long these days.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and le Monsieur. After dinner at a local restaurant, we will watch the last 4 episodes of Admiral on Prime. It’s Russian (subtitles) and quite interesting. Locations and costumes are beautiful before the revolution. Russia has such a sad history as do many Eastern European countries. On a happy note, I am thankful for you, your blog and wonderful insight into color and fashion. Thank you!

Thanksgiving has been too often a day of stress, family drama, hurt feelings and pointless arguments. I welcome this change.

Hi Mary Beth, we purchased this vintage lithograph at a poster shop in Paris. I don’t remember the name of the shop, but they’re on blvd. Saint Germain, west of rue du Bac.

OMG – Great minds must think alike! I have my late mother’s silverplate flatware – same pattern. I also have the same stemmed glasses, mine a slightly different shape – bought at Off Fifth many years ago. I even have the same white and green pumpkins. Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving – we had dinner from The Fresh Market, a turkey roulade, and it was delicious!
