New stuff, good stuff from J.Crew…

Susan B. wears a J.Crew sweater blazer outfit with corduroy pants, striped tee, and sneakers.

J.Crew is one of my go-to’s for casual wardrobe basics, and there were several pieces in their new fall drop that looked promising. I just received the first of a couple of orders I placed last week and there were some keepers in the batch! I wanted to share these with you right away, as these are currently 40% off (!) with code HELLOFALL.

Wearing: sweater-blazer | necklace (similar, similar) | tee | pants | sneakers

This is the Eloise sweater-blazer in Heather Walnut. I’m wearing the XS. I really like this updated version! The fabric is lighter than previous styles, and more fluid. It’s perfect for transitional season wear. You can throw this on over just about anything! Offered in XX-Small to 3X in six neutral-ish colors. (Am hoping they add more color as the season goes on.)

The pants are the Vintage Straight Corduroy. I bought a pair of these last year in a rust brown and wore them quite a bit. This color, Pale Mocha, is even more versatile, IMO. I’m wearing 28 Petite. They’re quite comfortable and have a slight amount of stretch. In Classic, Petite, and Tall lengths.

I’ll be sifting through the Labor Day sales as they come online, with an eye toward fall wardrobe pieces. Look for more in Friday’s post. 👀

  1. I like all these items. I’ve had my eye on the corduroy pants. Unfortunately they are excluded from this promotion, but I’ll take a look at other choices.

    1. Thanks, I hadn’t realized that. I’ve updated the post to indicate. I’ll keep an eye open and let you know if they go on promotion.

  2. Really like this post, Susan. I just purchased the same sweater blazer to wear with off white jeans. I thought the brown color on me was a little dull but it looks great on you so I’m rethinking about keeping it.

  3. Hi. Susan,
I am waiting on the pink version of the Eloise which is a new departure for me color wise but l am thinking it will look lovely with black and denim. I have grey hair. Will you be featuring the pink one? Do you please have any suggestions as to what to wear it with? Thanks.

    1. Hi Francesca, the pink is a cooler, soft pink, and not in my color palette. But it would look great with white, black, grey, denim, some shades of olive, and you could also pick up the color in a print top.

  4. I love this mocha color on the pants and although I like the jacket, I think I have a mocha cardigan that would be a good match. A Stripe top is perfect. It just looks better than a solid to me. You look absolutely radiant lately.

  5. Those colours are definitely you, Susan, and after seeing how much black you had in your closet, in a blog from 2016, I had to agree that you are a new woman! Brighter and obviously cheerier.
Did you see my earlier post ,a couple of days ago, when you blogged about your Italian trip has been put on hold?
It is regarding editing my closet , after reading your suggestions for that task? Nearly done, after Society of Services donation pile is getting taller, and a younger friend just received a giant box of surprises. Still some clothes in a carton I will consider for the next round, as I’m not sure yet. Feeling pretty good about my project.

  6. I love that sweater jacket. I am more of a winter and I love the pink version. I am going to seriously consider that, especially since you like the quality. As you said, the pink will look nice with black (I still have a lot of that) and denim. Thanks Susan.

  7. Thanks for showing this sweater jacket, Susan. Will you show us the back as well in a future post? It look great on you, and the pink is calling my name!
